Numbers don't mean much, patterns do. Point JFF played poorly two years in a row against the same team. That's a pattern, albeit a short one. This thread is discussion the reason I think he's played poorly against the same team both years.

Heard about it on "the herd" this morning. I looked it up and sure enough. JFF has played LSU twice and has posted the following numbers.2012: 51% completion, 0 TD and 3 INTs for a passer rating of 82 (almost 75 points below season average)2013: 39% completion, 1 TD and 2 INTs for a passer rating of 83 (almost 110 points below seasons ave)So just two bad games right? Can happen to anyone right? Well apparently LSU had 6 of their starters drafted last year, all on defense. Now correct me if I'm wrong, they again, have a very talented defensive roster. So JFF struggles with a defense who has 6 NFL caliber guys on it, how is he going to do with he faces a defense with 11? I am fully and 100% off JFF. I was unsure before if i was buying into his game, now I'm sure that I am not.

And then there are his numebrs against Alabama:2012: 77% completion, 2 TD and 0 INTs, and 92 rushing yards.2013: 71% completion (464 yards!!!!), 5 (!!) TD, 2 INT, and 98 rushing yards.

I know it's a long thread, but you guys have to read the whole thing. That has been discussed during the entire thread. Actually the thread is more about Alabama's pass defense than JFF.

Wow, you're telling people to read through the whole thread but you're ignoring my post. The whole premise of your argument was stats in two games and now you say stats don't matter. Lmao you're done. It's ok.

I think the premise of the argument was that JFF struggles against a particular type of defense. Sure he used stats to back up this claim but I don't think that was the only indicator of his struggles. You on the other hand used stats to refute his theory, which I don't think applies in this situation.

His premise was "JFF struggles against a defense that has 6 nfl caliber players on it - how will he do against a defense with 11?" - and used the game stats against LSU to provide evidencethen another guy made an argument with the premise "JFF did very well against a different defense that also has many nfl caliber players on it" - and used game stats against Alabama to provide evidencesounds like this whole thing is nulland that the answer to "why he performed a certain way on x given saturday" probably is closer related to how he felt when he woke up that morning, what he had for breakfast, or maybe how the other 52 players on the team matched up against the other 53 players on the team (speed, size, mental make up, scheme, what they had for breakfast, etc)

point is: football is waaay to complex to try to pull stats from 2 games and try to write a career narrative about a playerits an enticing idea, and it makes your brain go "ah-ha!" (and its also a good way to piss people off and start a conversation, generate clicks, generate interest for a radio show)but it just flat out isn't right and I think if everybody is honest with themselves, they know that already

You clearly just jumped in here and didn't read anything. I said it multiple times and I'll say it again, I wouldn't use Manziel's stats in TWO games against Bama to say how good he is, just like I wouldn't use his stats in TWO games against LSU to say how bad he is. The OP was the one who's whole premise was stats. Did you read anything in this thread? An in depth look into Manziel is a quick check of the box score from two games?? Shit man. You guys have no argument, but please keep talking out of your collective asses if you want.

It's hilarious people still claiming JFF has no chance of succeeding as a "Pass First QB". Care to guess who had the highest completion percentage FROM WITHIN THE POCKET in the NCAA this year? Yup Johnny Effing Football.

I never said he had no chance of succeeding. I said he's a 2-3 year project and should be drafted as such. The style of play he has relies on him creating and designed runs. His running around is going to be much less effective as NFL defenders are faster and his designed runs are just a bad idea in the NFL as he'll get hurt. I can't say it any more clear than I have but I'll say it once more. JFF struggled against LSU twice. Not on chance, not because his team didn't show up, but because LSU had the best pass defense he faced all year. People want to scream that Bama was even better, but they weren't. Bamas secondary was exposed, big time by Oklahoma who runs a somewhat similar spread style offense as TAM. Bama is a big defense that struggles in space and against good QB play. The premise is that when you make JFF function in the pocket he becomes a much less effective passer he very often misses reads and leaves the pocket to early. You'd be a damned fool to take him in the top of the first round. He's a playmaker, not a QB as of right now and there is a big difference. As much everyone thinks I'm hating on JFF, I think the rest of you can't get off his boner long enough to take an objective look at the kid and see all the things he doesn't do particularly well. Someone took Tebow in the first round so I'm sure someone will take JFF in the first round. Just hope it isn't our Bucs. One more thing....If he could be a pass first QB, why wasn't he? You think his coach just wanted him take some extra hits for the hell of it?

he was a Freeman slurper so consider the source.  Glennon must be his new Freeman so he starts thread like this one to bash a potential draft pick.

NY, Almost everything you've said is beyond idiotic but the last comment you just made may take the cake and show how limited your football knowledge is. I don't know why the coach would have him run, hmmmm, maybe because he's one of the best QBs at making plays with his feet that we've ever seen!!!! I can't keep arguing this, you sound ridiculous.
