A Defense without LVD?

For all the talk about Mayfield and Evans, what happens to the defense if LVD retires? Talk about a player whose impact extends far beyond his game stats. If yu consider he was recently playing along side aLB with very poor discipline and instincts (and effort), LVD's play is all the more amazing. This was Christian MCCaffery “He’s a stud, man! He is definitely somebody you always have to circle whenever you are playing against him. He’s smart. He’s physical. He tackles well. And he knows where to be.” That last part is key. he is a big part of our run defense AND he was often able to cover much younger and bigger TEs, in part because of his smarts. Does he retire? if so, how do we replace him?

LVD . . Buc or retire

“I would want to stay a Buc for the rest of my career as long as I play,” David said, by way of Cory Woodroof of “For the Win.” “I do want to retire a Buc, but, y’know, it’s just got to be a mutual thing.”
