I was going to wait until Draft Day to post this, but I think we're close enough to the big day to go ahead with it.Starting rookie QBs usually suck. Not because they aren't good players but because they, most likely, are on a bad team. Also, there is a HUGE learning curve between college and the NFL. Players are faster, smarter and more experienced. In college, talent is everything. In the NFL, effort and work ethic rule the day. A guy who outworks and outsmarts you is much, much more dangerous than a guy who runs faster than you do.With that being said, here is a list of things to keep in mind about our new QB:1. He will lose games for us. Whether it's a stupid pick-six thrown in the last 2 minutes, a sack he had no business taking, a checkdown when we need 12 yards, a receiver he stares down, or a linebacker in underneath coverage that he doesn't identify, he will make decisions that are asinine and detrimental.2. He will make stupid decisions. He will run when he doesn't need to. He will stare at the pass rush in front of him and get caught from behind. He will throw a ball downfield to the wrong route and into the arms of a waiting defender. It'll be dumb. We will collectively facepalm.3. He will say something dumb to the media. It might be in a post game press conference, it might be on instagram or twitter, it might be in an ESPN interview. Young guys don't always know the right thing to say.4. Someday, it'll all be worth it.This isn't meant to tear down our new QB. As die-hard fans, we're more emotionally invested than most. We bleed Pewter. The new guy, whoever he is, will need our support and cheers, even when things are going bad. Especially when things are going bad. If we give him time, consistent coaching and lots of fan support, he'll bring us a championship.FIRE THE DAMN CANNONS
