Roethlisberger is the same size as Luck. Bridgewater is the same size as Geno Smith. Big difference. Don't see where you're going with that comparison.
Drafting a QB is about setting your team up for the next 15 years not trying to contend the year after your team goes 4-12. Do you really want to spin our wheels in mediocracy like the Bears did for do many years because we don't have a franchise QB?
I would draft Bortles over Bridgewater. His size really concerns me.
No draft pick at any position is a guarantee but Bortles looks the part to me more so than the other QB prospects.
Why is that? How is he a better prospect than Teddy?
Personally I think you guys are trying to force a square peg into a round hole. Very rarely do you draft a clear franchise QB, even when you do take him the 1st round. Any of these guys going in the 1st, I don't see being better than Glennon next year. I know that's not a popular opinion, but there is a lot that goes into preparation that he is going to have a leg up on and to be blunt, despite his drawbacks of being goofy and awkward, he is just more intelligent and a better studier than most of these guys can hope to be. I believe we should stick with Glennon, although I do like the idea of trying to get Aaron Murray in the 4th.
I'm also of the opinion that we shouldn't trade up for a quarterback, doing so this year would cripple this draft and possibly next years as well. If Bortles or Derek Carr happen to be at #7, I could see the Bucs taking one or the other although I would prefer a playmaker like Sammy Watkins, but even if we draft Bortles or Carr, Glennon is probably going to be our quarterback next year. I suspect Glennon is going to meet with Smith and Tedford next week and get the playbook. He'll have months to study it, pick Tedford's brain and get all the terminology down. I also expect that he'll work with the trainers and add about 15 pounds and work on mobility. During the next 4 months until the draft, he gets a one-on-one job audition and I expect that he'll impress enough to give both Smith and Tedford some comfort with going with him at least for 2014. IMO, you do draft a quarterback in 2014, but you don't force the selection. But whoever Smith and Tedford draft, if that pick is higher than a 4th, he'll be married to that quarterback just the same way Dom was married to the Freeman pick. The only way I'm picking a quarterback with my 1st or 2nd pick THIS year is if Glennon gives me no choice over the next 4 months, otherwise I'll go after that decision in 2015 and pick a development quarterback in the 4th or 5th.JMO.
Are Franchise QBs just the current NFL rage now? Seems that's what's chic nowadays.........what's next, Franchise Beer Vendors? It's win now in the NFL, and with the offensive talent the Bucs have I say bring in a proven veteran.

How is he more intelligent? Did he have a higher GPA thanks to an excellent essay on legalizing marijuana in Freshman comp 101? Because that doesn't equal football smarts and knowing the playbook. Something he had trouble with.

Cutler got nabbed. Vick is Vick. Josh McCown isn't winning you a super bowl. And that leaves... My god, do you really think Lovie Smith can fix Freeman's issues? All 420 of them!?

Well, the fact that he picked up his masters degree at the same time he finished his 4 years at school must indicate some intelligence. Which of the quarterbacks in this draft can say the same? By all accounts, Glennon is an extremely smart person, that alone doesn't signify success, but it doesn't hurt. From his wiki: Glennon completed his academic tenure at NC State with two degrees: a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, graduating on December 14, 2012. His GPA in the MALS program, which had an emphasis in leadership and sports management, was in the 3.8 range on a 4.0 scale. The curriculum included classes in financial management of corporations and investments and portfolio management.[8]

I don't know where this came from, from all accounts Glennon had the playbook down better than Freeman by the end of training camp. The only issue that bothers me about Glennon is the happy feet that he started to develop in December. I don't know if that signifies a larger issue or if that was just a symptom of bad line play. If you can find a link to something that says he didn't know the playbook, I'd love to see it.
All QBs play like crap while taking a beating. That's why pass rush is so important. Fix the line and you fix Glennon.

Play calling that helps get the ball out of the QB's hands is important here too. Schiano's offense fell apart if you could stop the running game. Very weak quick passing game.
Well hell, if masters degrees and book smarts make a good QB, let's sign Neil deGrasse Tyson with Stephen Hawking as his backup!I'll let you know when I stumble upon the thread about his playbook mishaps. I think it's the one where some tough guy was going on and on about WHY IS THIS SOURCE ANON!? WHAT A PUTZ
