Well hell, if masters degrees and book smarts make a good QB, let's sign Neil deGrasse Tyson with Stephen Hawking as his backup!I'll let you know when I stumble upon the thread about his playbook mishaps.
I assume you're sources are Sander and Howell then.
No draft pick at any position is a guarantee but Bortles looks the part to me more so than the other QB prospects.
Why is that? How is he a better prospect than Teddy?
stronger arm. More athletic, 1-2 inches taller and 35 pounds heavier just to start. It's a measurables thing.
Personally I think you guys are trying to force a square peg into a round hole. Very rarely do you draft a clear franchise QB, even when you do take him the 1st round. Any of these guys going in the 1st, I don't see being better than Glennon next year. I know that's not a popular opinion, but there is a lot that goes into preparation that he is going to have a leg up on and to be blunt, despite his drawbacks of being goofy and awkward, he is just more intelligent and a better studier than most of these guys can hope to be. I believe we should stick with Glennon, although I do like the idea of trying to get Aaron Murray in the 4th.
How is he more intelligent? Did he have a higher GPA thanks to an excellent essay on legalizing marijuana in Freshman comp 101? Be cause that doesn't equal football smarts and knowing the playbook. Something he had trouble with.
Well, the fact that he picked up his masters degree at the same time he finished his 4 years at school must indicate some intelligence. Which of the quarterbacks in this draft can say the same? By all accounts, Glennon is an extremely smart person, that alone doesn't signify success, but it doesn't hurt. From his wiki: Glennon completed his academic tenure at NC State with two degrees: a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, graduating on December 14, 2012. His GPA in the MALS program, which had an emphasis in leadership and sports management, was in the 3.8 range on a 4.0 scale. The curriculum included classes in financial management of corporations and investments and portfolio management.[8]
Well let's sign Ryan Fitzpatrick, then. He went to Harvard. Being a smart QB on the field has nothing to do with being a smart student in the classroom. Ben Roethlisberger is a caveman.
Are Franchise QBs just the current NFL rage now? Seems that's what's chic nowadays.........what's next, Franchise Beer Vendors? It's win now in the NFL, and with the offensive talent the Bucs have I say bring in a proven veteran.
The NFL has always been about franchise QBs.

Well the hell is all the hate for a smart quarterback coming from? Damn people, do you want JaMarkus Russell for a quarterback? Nobody has said that because Glennon is a smart quarterback that makes him an automatic success - what that *does* imply is that he has the basic smarts to probably quickly grasp a complex offense! Geez. If you hate Glennon, I'm fine with that, but stop bashing the guy for having some good qualities.
We want our QBs to look like Fabio and have the brains of Morris Claiborne.
If Bortles or Carr are @7 I don't see how the Bucs pass up on either one.Borltes has the movement you want in today's NFL and Carr has the quick release and sets his feet quickly.

id be happy with a guy that looks like a young Burt Reynolds if you put a mustache on him.
You guys act as if Glennon had good coaches to develop him. At what point did Schiano's conservative philosophy hinder Glennon. I think the kid deserves a chance to play in this system.
Given how Glennon performed in the circumstances he was given I don't see how anyone can say he shouldn't get a chance.
If you think Manziel is going to be anything like Luck you need your head checked. Luck is John Elway. Bridgewater isn't even close to the prospect Luck was. The next one who is even close to Luck in the hopper is Jameis Winston. If you really want to guarantee yourself a good QB tank 2014 and get the #1 overall pick, because there are no guarantees in this draft and almost definitely only one next year.
Lol then what if Winston stays for his junior year?
Based on what I saw of Glennon I can see the new GM/HC giving Glennon a chance.

Ditto.
the title of this thread is such a joke. What rookie would be able to cover the holes and weaknesses of horrible coaches, a horrible offensive system, a bad Oline, and one worthy starting WR with the rest being near practice squad guys. Someone would really look at that and say "hey a good QB would have made it all work"? lol yea ok, so if Bridgewater goes to the Jags and they dont win 10 games next year ill write an article about how it turns out Bridgewater isnt a good QB. A good QB would have won despite the holes and being a rookie...Bridgewater did not.
Given the fact that we all know that 2015 will yield a way better QB class, I don't see why you don't roll with Glennon and get him more weapons. That way we can truly see if he is the guy, if not trade up in next years draft and get your QB.
