Wasn't sure if I was building this kid up in my own mind because I want a pass rusher and I love the workout freaks.  Watched every game film from this season I could find and I'm more sure now I want him to be the first round pick for the Bucs.  Preface that by saying I suck at QBs and don't have any idea if any of this year's crop are any good.  I would rather take a QB if Tedford thinks one is boss, I just can't latch on to which one we should take.  Also, I think Donald will be there at 10/11 and I really want to trade back at least one time and pick up a 4th minimum.  Donald is explosive with his first step.  Much more then just being fast, he has excellent reaction time and consistently reestablishes the los in the opponents backfield before the offensive lineman can react to him.  His get off is eye popping.  He doesn't jump off sides (think I saw him twitch early one time, don't think he was flagged, got back).  He doesn't have to.  He demonstrates a variety of pass rushing moves.  Devastating pass rush moves.  Love his swim.  It's lightning.  He's not running around people, or going in unblocked and hitting the QB like many of these pass rush prospects.  He's putting his hands on the lineman and then moving through him, quickly.  Not making big gaps in the line.  Pitt wasn't stunting him, scheming him into pressures.  He creates them.  Uses his hands to keep linemen off his body pretty well.  His dog isn't great, but he shows consistently good effort through the whistle.  If you watch the every snap videos, he is not taking plays off.  Doesn't look to have superb recognition, but he's fucking flying into the backfield most snaps.  Tackles poorly?  Certainly gets his hands on a lot of ball carriers that he does not bring down.  Nature of the beast a bit though probably when you're a quick penetrator, Gerald is the same way.  He also stands his ground pretty damn well for an "undersized" interior lineman.  You see him playing some 3-4 end.  Seems like a no brainer he'd be a 3-4 monster end.  I agree with JD in that I believe he could be extremely effective (from either side imo) at defensive end even in a 4-3.  Clearly not his best spot though.  He just fucking shreds guards.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mI1y-Z9AvYk My favorite video.  Playing against elite competition and he still stands out.  Not ridiculously so like in some of these videos, but still lives more/less in the FSU backfield.  If Winston is not so slippery Donald has 3 sacks (with several more pressures) against a very good offensive line. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tdcxwpg1OpA Holy shit.  Donald looks like Sapp at the U.  Unblockable.  I'm not taking the time to research his opponents.  Did UNC have shit guards last season?  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7M1qFydA-0 Again.  Holds up well against the run and then starts making splash plays when UVA starts throwing.  I would swear he pressured/sacked 75% of the pass attempts he wasn't double teamed on that weren't designed sprint outs.  Even several times where he shreds the guard and then goes right through the back on like a straight line to the QB without hardly slowing down.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOlvWNJ8wyU Want to see how he holds up against double teams?  That's all Miami does the entire game.  80+% of the snaps here he's doubled.  Pitt is getting their teeth kicked in, and Donald is makes 3 fantastic splash plays against the run late in a game his team has no chance of winning.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJA_gfbPzcQ Wow.  Yeah.  Good fucking luck cut blocking Aaron Donald all day.  One of the most dominant games I've seen by a defensive tackle.

If they can swing that deal, great. Hell, if they took him at 7 I'd dig that too.

Here's an exerpt from Bucky Brooks' article on NFL.com.  He was projecting good fits for Donald.Cincinnati Bengals (No. 24)  Marvin Lewis already has one of the most disruptive defensive tackles in the game (Geno Atkins), but that wouldn't necessarily prevent him from taking another special talent if the opportunity were to present itself. First of all, Atkins is returning from a serious knee injury. Furthermore, while Atkins and Donald seemingly fill the same role in a 4-3 scheme, the ability to designate each as a right or left defensive tackle would prevent opponents from crafting blocking schemes specifically designed to neutralize Atkins. Additionally, the Bengals could seamlessly flip-flop Atkins and Donald between the 1- and 3-technique spots to create even more confusion at the point of attack. If Lewis subscribes to the theory of enhancing his team's strengths, Donald should look very appealing. The reason I'm posting this is his logic for pairing Atkins with Donald also applies to the Bucs. Here's the whole article: http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0ap2000000342192/article/aaron-donalds-nfl-fits-include-new-york-giants-chicago-bears#

He'd give us one heck of a DT rotation for sure, with McCoy, McDonald, and Spence. Our pass D would instantly get better...

That is a nice theory but every play you flip them to the NT means one of the two of them is basically worthless. So you are willingly neutralizing one of your best players for the other team every play. Thanks defense!. There is no confusion, the alignment tells you who is the NT and who is the UT and teams adjust blocking because we could come out aligned to either side.

why is the nt worthless and neutralized? Because he sees a double? And if teams can adjust blocking, why wouldn't they just double mccoy every snap?

Donald spent 33% of his snaps from the NT position last year and had 5 of his 11 sacks from that spot. He was almost always doubled in college no matter where he lined up. Sometimes even triple teamed. His rare explosion off the line combined with his power, natural leverage, multiple pass rush moves, and very fast & heavy hands allowed him to beat the double team more often than not. He was past the center before the center had even finished snapping the ball most of the time which makes the double team pretty useless. I guess the detractors don't think he will be able to do the same thing in the NFL.

Doubles are completely useless against him!!! This makes him the best tackle of all time . Better than Warren Sapp....Better than John Randle ...Better than ANYONE !!! Man Crush in full Crush Mode !!!If this is the case , why not just save 13 million of cap space and gain another 1st rounder.  Trade McCoy and make Donald the Undertackle . Imagine what he'd do in a playmaking position if he supposedly is going to wreak havoc and get 10 plus sacks facing doubles and playing noseguard.  LOL. I'll tell you why . Because this notion is complete BS. Try as Jdud might to justify this pick and fit a square peg in a round hole, Donald just doesn't fit for us.

Diametrically opposed to Donald not fitting for the bucs.  Donald plays different positions, offering huge up side for that alone.  Add in he is a Dline stud and I would welcome him - but still be left hoping WRs in the next rounds...

Show me the reputable scouting report that projects Donald as an effective multiple position player at the next level. He's seen as the opposite actually.
