Santana Dotson might disagree.  And Culpepper might be a bit miffed as his importance is dismissed.

Bwahahahahaha!!! ....you were joking right ??

32nd ranked offense and some of you clowns want to draft a NT .... Bwahahahahahaha!!You can't make this stuff up...

If he is just going to be playing NT, then pass.If he is going to be a player who plays 40% of his snaps at LE, 40% of his snaps at NT, and approx 20% of his snaps giving McCoy a breather at UT....that is the player that I would be happy with. This DL still needs a nice injection of potential pass rush...and Donald might be the most versatile DLmen in the draft. He would be better at LE than Clayborn, and could rush from the NT on passing downs/situations.

It's not that the team's NT is completely irrelevant, it's that you generally don't need to spend elite resources to fill the spot.  Dotson was a fifth round pick and Culpepper a 10th round selection and signed on waivers by the Bucs.  Again, that's not to downplay their contributions to the team, but rather just to say that you don't need to spend a top 10 pick to get a good player to fill that spot.

That's pretty much what it comes down to for me.  While I don't think there's much question that he *could* play DE, is that an effective use of his talents?  I honestly don't know one way or the other personally.  I'll be cautiously optimistic if the team decides to draft him, but not be at all upset if he should slide right past us.

If it lasts for more than four hours, I'm pretty sure you'll need to see a doctor about that.

There is no doubt that positions have maximum values that a team doesn't wish to go beyond.  On the other hand one can not have too much excellence especially when said talent is able to play several positions.  (and the same could be said about McCoy).  When one looks at Donald and thinks of all that he could bring it is not difficult to see him being considered by the buccaneers.  (along with another dozen or so at various positions)

I think that is erections , not laughter , Acacius. LolAlthough Jdud has proven during this Donald discussion that you can indeed keep an erection for weeks without seeing a doctor.

If the Giants had stopped collecting pass rushers because they already had a great d-line, they wouldn't have 2 SB rings. If the Seahawks had not collected pass rushers last offseason and bolstered their already stout defense, they wouldn't be the Champs right now. A great pass rusher is a great pass rusher and always worth the price. An elite WR, RB, TE, or DB is a very nice piece to have, but great teams have great QB play, great O-lines, and great pass rush. Only way we should not take Donald is if we are taking a QB or he is drafted before #7.

His potential versatility is the justification of why I would want to take him @ #7. I pretty much agree with the sentiment dal and DJ have brought forth that if he is just going to be used at exclusively NT, then it would be a waste. Now there is evidence that he can be just as effective as a LE. Hopefully if he is drafted, it will be with the intention of having him play a significant amount of snaps at the LE position with some movement into the interior DL on specific snaps.

I can agree with the pick if the these suggestions that he can be a dominating pass rusher from LE on the NFL level are true. I'm not even close to being convinced of that.

+1And it is very possible that he will be drafted before #7.    Great inside pass rushers are rare.

what makes you think he can't play LE? What attributes does he lack?

I could definitely see Donald being a big time asset if used like this. Sign me up.
