He's not getting drafted #1 on 1 season. He's getting drafted on the whole deal - the production, the athleticism, the raw ability/ceiling, etc. And yes, his sacks were down last year and there are some bad moments - and yet, he still drew a ton of attention from OL and OCs, and he still caused a lot of havoc.

Exactly. Teams were scheming against him and he had a hobbled ankle. All it takes is a simple look at his film from when his foot was healthy to see a once in a decade player. Keep in mind that his combine numbers were on the injured foot. That makes his performance epic. Think julio Jones. He will likely go no.1 overall despite the foot issue.

I like Donald, but do we need to burn a 1st round pick on a DT with so many other holes on this squad? He is a beast though...but a bit undersize to play NT....Drafting him would be like drafting a replacement for McCoy....There should be better NT prospects in the later rounds or UDFA...

To anybody knocking Clowney, if both he and Donald were available at our pick, who are you gonna take?I love Donald and I hope we take him, and I think Clowney is a very risky pick, but let's be real. Clowney is a generational talent on par with Calvin Johnson or Adrian Peterson. You have to take him.

IDK, normally I would say Clowney ..... but the questions surrounding him after his behavior this past season are overwhelming.

and somehow he only got 3 sacks last year. Massive potential, but I might still take donald. Either way id be thrilled.

So exactly what would be the problem having 2 McCoys playing the interior?

A generational talent with mediocre production and a truckload of excuses. People act like no one game planned for Donald for example. They did but he produced. I'd take Donald over Clowney.

+1 People have been hearing that Clowney sh!ts golden eggs from the media for two years now. Seems like everyone just buys it hook line and sinker. Clowney has definitely bought it and now has become a diva with a big head. He might end being great eventually, but I think he will hit bottom first and need a wake up call. He been the biggest and fastest guy his whole life and got by on that alone. Let's see what happens when he realizes he has to also put in more time and effort than everyone else to be great in the NFL.Meanwhile Donald looks like the next Sapp/Atkins/Randle and he is humble, hardworking, and has an unquestionable love for the game.Give me Donald over Clowney and it's not even close.

I'm not "knocking" Clowney, but I'd take Donald without hesitation.

Believe it or not, JD, other people on this board have access to Draft Breakdown as well.

I'd like to see what Lovie could do with Donald or Clowney. Clowney fills the bigger need though.

we just gave a huge contract to a RE. We have mccoy. I'm not sure either guy would be considered a need. But both guys provide pass rush and every team can always use more of it.
