Justin Evans vs Cards, Bills, Panthers, Saints All 22 Review
Going to review all of his games after his NE game (I already reviewed that awhile back). He's had a steady stream of struggles since that game in coverage and run support/tackling.

NOTABLE PLAYS
- Terrible angle as deep safety turns what should have been a 7-10 yard gain into a 27 yard TD run. Not even competitive here. Not even within 3 yards of the ball carrier.
- Great job diagnosing and getting downhill immediately on running play. Although play ended up being TFL by DL, he was right where he needed to be to make that plat at or near the LoS or assist.
- The crucial 3rd and 5 where Beck fails to get depth and find Fitz on the Post. Evans is deep Safety. He doesn't read the play to get a hit on the receiver, but he makes a sure tackle in the open field.
- Where he needs to be as deep safety on Skinny Post to make open field tackle.
- This could have been C3 Robber (Ward) or Busted Quarters coverage with McClain, VH3 and Evans. The way VH3 and McClain played it, it looks like it was supposed to be Quarters. Improper pattern match and pickup by Evans as its a Slot Seam route his side, but McClain could have gotten better depth as there was no other threat to him. He does make the tackle in the open field though. Big play 26 yards.
- Great M2M on TE Cross on PA Boot. Hip pocket the whole way.
- C3Z Buzz and Evans is playing the Buzz Safety. Does a great job of playing in-cut and covering man, not grass.
- Lack of spatial awareness and aggression downhill (box safety) ends up getting him cracked and caught in the wash. This was his run fit. He does, however, hustle and run the play down to the sideline for an 8 yard gain.
- Good job on Quarters on a tough Stacked combo route his side. Picks up the Corner route appropriately and has him.
- 2nd and Goal from 3. VH3 does a great job disrupting the run play and Evans cleans up for 1 yard TFL.
- Playing C2. Reeeeeeeeeeeally timid to come up in run support on an Offtackle run his side. Gets in on the Assist with a crowd, but he could have been decisive, gotten upfield and ended this play with aggression 3 yards earlier (rather than the 9 yard gain it was).
- M2M on Wheel. He's playing off and gets downhill, biting on the fake Arrow route. When the Slot Receiver Wheels, its an auto-TD. This is the duck that Palmer through that he somehow still can't locate. This could have been a pick after being beat terribly. Ends up failing to locate and its a walk-in TD. Bad all kinds of ways here.
- Didn't get a lot in the way of snaps after the above.
- Next play in is huge run by AP where he is deep Safety and misplays the angle and that ends up turning what should have been a 15-20 yard play into a 41 yard play (he does chase down and make the tackle).
- 4th and 2, M2M vs Slot Quickout. Drives on the ball beautifully, dives and makes a perfect breakup. This is Evans at his best. I sometimes wonder if he is better suited for CB.
