Tweet no more: David shelves Twitter for season Greg Auman, Times Staff Writer? ? September 5, 2014 Given the amount of time NFL players can spend on social media, it's an impressive sacrifice that Bucs linebacker Lavonte David has suspended his Twitter account until after the upcoming season, saying his focus needs to be on football. "It's a focus thing. I got rid of it for the time being," said David, who has more than 37,000 followers. "It was just something I wanted to do. Since camp, I was rarely on it, so I just got rid of it."After months of learning a new defense and preparing for the season, he's ready for the regular season to start, with the Panthers coming in for Sunday's opener."Opening day, new team, new coaches and it's going to be a packed house," David said. "It's going to be exciting."The game features two of the NFL's best young linebackers in David and Carolina's Luke Kuechly, who has won Defensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors in his two seasons."I respect Kuechly, with a high level of respect," he said. "We're going to continue doing what we do, making an impact on our teams."
