2023-2024 NFL Season Sharing for some who may also find interesting: QB: Tom Brady with his $35M dead cap hit is the 3rd highest paid QB this season only behind Mahomes and Tannenhill with their “Cap Numbers” not Cash spent then he would be 6th. WR: Mike Evans’ cap charge of $23,698,500 is 5th most of all active NFL WR’s this season… Chris Godwin’s is 29th. OLB/EDGE Shaquil Barrett is the 3rd highest paid OLB/EDGE at $21,252,941 with only TJ Watt and Myles Garret making more. LINEBACKER Devin White is the 8th highest paid LB at $11,706,000. Shaq Thompson and CJ Mosley are the two highest paid making $24.5M and $21.5M respectively this year. KICKER Ryan Succop is the 8th highest paid Kicker with only $500K separating him from being in top 5. GREAT VALUE Ryan Jensen Vita Vea Carlton Davis Jamal Dean Antoine Winfield (Massive pay day coming) making $3,711,578 this year with the top 8 safeties making $17-19M a season. Tristian Wirfs (Massive pay day coming) making $5,163,464 this season and as a RT that puts him at 17th. Top 3 RT’s make $19-24M a season. Top 3 LT’s make $27-35M a season. Wirfs and Winfield have already outperformed their contracts. This is Wirf’s 4th season at just 24 years old and that means we can exercise his 5th year option for next year. If he’s paid within the top RT’s or LT’s we’re looking at least $20M increase a season. This is also Winfields 4th season and the last on his deal with no option available. Just 25 years old. If he’s paid within the top Safties we’re looking at least $15M increase a season. Devin White is the name we’ve been dreading. Playing on his 5th year option Todd Bowles is going to have to figure this out with Jason Licht. The biggest contract just signed by Raquan Smith of the Ravens is Total Value $100M and AVG./Year of $20M. The next top 3 are between $85M and $98M making $17-19.5M a year. So that’ll be at least another $8-9M increase if we resign White.

As tragic as TB12’s cap impact is on this team, I look at Akiem Hicks’ contract making $5M in dead money this year… with the fact he was paid $1,127,272. a game for the ‘11 games’ he ‘played in’.

Meanwhile, Suh played for the Eagles for $2M…

Suh being 36 and Hicks being 34 offered no real difference other than Suh actually earned his paycheck.

Suh played from weeks 11-18, and had 176 snaps. Hicks played in 398 snaps in 3 more games played with a far worse D-line

Even JPP only made $1.2M with the Ravens last year. I would have rather have had the locker room presence of JPP and Suh than Hicks… bad moves by Licht.

yeah I agree. I wanted Suh and JPP back. I do think their price tags were much more in the offseason but as the season started and the price was that low, hard to imagine why we didn’t bring them in

We still need to create over $5M in cap space to sign our draft picks. We also still have holes on our roster and need to sign additional free agents.

in SR’s mailbag answers he doesn’t think it’s a good idea to restructure or extend Shaq and said Evans would require a raise. That leaves only trading either player. There’s no other options to create additional cap space on this team.
