Guys and gals let me start this by saying I am a huge Clemson fan so this may or may not go over well with FSU or MIA fans. Pewter Reports most recent mock has us taking Njoku from MIA in the 1st round and while I think the kid is an athletic freak I don't think he fills a big enough need to draft in round 1. Let's quickly look back at other 1st round Athletic can't miss TE's that have had mediocre careers at best. Coby Fleener, Dwayne Allen, & Vernon Davis. Of the 3 they have combined 22 year in the NFL Fleener (5) Dwayne Allen (5) and Davis (12). Of those 22 years they have had 4 seasons with significant impact of TD's for their perspective teams ( 1 each for Fleener and Allen 8 TD's and 2 for Davis 13 TD's 2 times). My point is they were can't miss prospects that haven't lived up to their draft billing. I think we have a far better chance drafting a TE in the 2nd or 3rd round.
I can't believe I am going to say this but I am all for drafting Dalvin Cook in the first (he trashed the Clemson defense every time we played them) it wasn't if he was going to hit a big play it was when. Behind him we could add a speedy receiver that may or may not fall. And finally Budda Baker from Washington at safety.
Now to my choice for the Bucs in rounds 2 or 3 would be you guessed it TE Jordan Leggett 6'5" 280 lbs from the Clemson Tigers. Being a fan I have seen every game this kid has played in and he wasn't properly used with all of the outside weapons Deshawn had with Scott, Williams, Cain, and Watkins etc. He can and will block and is a solid pass catching TE with 4.6 40 speed (see Pro Day). I see him in a long line of ex-Clemson pass catchers that were caught in the mix and didn't get there due.
I think he could be another weapon for Jameis Winston allowing us to add even more in the first round with a home run hitter like Cook. Would love to hear your thoughts?
