Go check out the video on twitter of Jason Licht and Todd Bowles talking about this. If he was there (Lions took him at 18) he was the one.Ā
I would have liked that pick but I'm good with our pick too
Iām glad the Lions helped us make the right pick. Kancey will be special.
Its right here.
Ā
Seems like Kancey was the pick, the MLB a great second option if Kancey went to Detroit
Devin White would've been traded on draft day IMO if he was our pick. Says a lot about what the people behind closed doors think about him (replaceable piece)
Ā
I don't think so.Ā David is probably on his last year as a starter.Ā I don't think they're trading White. They're just going to let it play out and take the comp pick.Ā ĀDevin White would've been traded on draft day IMO if he was our pick. I think, to an extent, they're done with his shit.Ā
Even the White fanboys have been awfully quiet lately.Ā
What's to like about White at this point?
Aside from a great 6-8 game run during the championship year, he's been bottom of the league BAD.
But if he's being a leader, selfless, and a great locker room guy... you can afford him some benefit of the doubt.
Instead all I see is a high potential athlete that has a lazy mind for the game.
He has all the physical tools and none of the mental tools
And I'd blame it on him being a RB recruit going into college but he's now had 7 years at the position to figure it out.
At some point you simple are what the tape says you are.
He's a 2 down LB that should be off the field on obvious passing down.
He's a blitz specialist (and I don't even think he's that great of one)

Ā
Not a bad strategy given it gives the team a year to train Dennis.
Ā
I'm fine with that too I just don't see that panning out in this scenario.I don't think so.Ā David is probably on his last year as a starter.Ā I don't think they're trading White. Ā
Makes no sense to invest a first round pick and have him benched majority of the season. Unless the plan was/is to limit David's snap count to be able to play Campbell. Otherwise it'd be an utter waste because linebackers don't come off the field unless their injured. Thankfully we got Kancey though who will play a lot and fills the more important need.
Ā
White would be better outside in a hybrid Rover/rush LB role. Let him play in space so he can track and let him rush the passer. Take away as much thinking as you possibly can.Ā
@jc5100 yup I agree... but that's not a 1st round pick and that's not a $100m contract
In case this hasn't already been disproven, Kancey was the pick at 19, not Campbell. When Detroit went on the clock Licht clearly says we're worried about Klancey here. They would have been happy with either pick, but Bowles says in a video that Kancey was number 1.Ā Would have been fine with Campbell, but an inside pass rush is worth more.Ā
