Let me start this by saying I really hope I'm wrong. I am a huge buccaneer fan and watch my team every single week with the utmost optimism. I even pick the buccaneers in my weekly football pool at work every week because I truly want to believe the bucs will win. But i'm starting to really feel like we are headed towards mediocrity as long as Lovie Smith is the coach of this team. I always hear " The bucs tripled their win total from last year" .." the team is moving in the right direction" . These statements are true, however that doesn't mean a thing. We were the worst football team in the NFL last year when we were projected to be good. Good football coaches do not go 2-14. I would love to see an example of a coach that went 2-14 and then went on to have great success. Lovie has had 2 offseasons to put together a respectable defense and yet week in and week out we are making these back up Qbs look like Joe Montana. This is not improving , it's the same exact problem as last year. We are 25th in pass yards allowed and 28th in pts allowed. last year we were 28th in pass yards allowed and 25th in points allowed. It's NOT getting better. We are the most penalized team in football and week in and week out we hear that they are    " Working" on it. Players are not being held accountable for these dumb penalties and that is a direct result reflection of the Bucs Head Coach. I'm sick and tired of watching this team run out the clock before halftime as if Lovie is content with being down 21-6. He doesn't have the fire that's necessary to lead this team. We did improve from last year but I'm not ok with being a fan of a Mediocre football team just because we used to be terrible. It's fitting to compare Lovie Smith to the coach that beat us up last night (Jeff Fisher). He has had four seasons in St. Louis and they have showed some real promise just like the bucs but then at the end of the day they are just a mediocre 7-9 to 8-8 football team. I would love to see Lovie turn this team around because I actually really like him as a person and my blind fandom says that he can but if im being objective I feel like this team will be headed down a path similar to the Rams. I really hope I'm wrong because I don't think the Bucs will move on from Lovie right now and I would love to see my Bucs in the playoffs again. Go bucs!
