DEN is in a pretty bad hole in terms of their cap situation, so my guess is there'll be a lot of rumors flying about all sorts of scenarios. My buddy was trying to explain to me how they could come up with the space to offer Baker $33.5 million AAV, which involves trading players like Jeudy, cutting/trading Wilson, restructuring the likes of Bolles, McGlinchey, Singleton and Zach Allen, etc. and so on. A lot of horse trading. But apparently they could go from being $22 million (I think that's right) over the cap, to about $39 million under.
If they were to move all these pieces to free up cap room, I would think it would be to land Cousins (assuming he's healthy), as he's the best FA QB out there this offseason. For cap purposes, I could see them moving for a cheaper vet like Jameis (the Payton connection) and only on a 1-year deal.
Otherwise, I would think they'd be positioning themselves to draft their future QB (Nix or Penix if they don't move up).

I don't think Cousins is on their radar. Cousins is projected to get $45 million/yr AAV; too rich for DEN by quite a bit, or so I've heard. If DEN goes after a FA QB, they'll be looking at guys that are in the mid-$30 million/yr range at most, or at least that's what I've been told.
I should confess at this point that I'm a cap moron. I have no idea how GMs do what they do. I'm still totally confused about how Veach managed to re-sign Chris Jones to a 4-yr/$80 million deal a few years ago when the Chiefs were literally $177 under the cap that season.
Holy moly. I just saw that MIA might be interested in Baker now? That's gotta be pure speculation. Didn't they just exercise his 5th year option?

I'm sure the Chiefs will be banging down the door next.

Lol, never happen. Andy always picks some rehab project, see Chad Henne, Blaine Gabbert, etc. More likely to sign Mac Jones as our backup.
Can any Trask supporter here point to an actual article saying the team is happy with him? I thought — could be wrong- that the new OC mentioned Mayfield and Wolford, but not Trask?
Genuinely asking because a genuine belief in Trask would change the dynamic with Mayfield, but that does not seem to be the case at all. They brought in a Mayfield-approved OC
Yes, when he was drafted, BA and JL both said that they saw a kid with arm talent. Possible deceptively mobile…no scrambler, but a complete statue bc, there…can pick up a first down in a pinch. Arm strength was good but not elite. I was honestly looking forward to Trask develop into a nice classic pocket passer for us. Then that changed when I watched the Iggles game. I hope everyone wins, except our enemies, the other 31 teams in the NFL.
So when he was drafted BA said he had an accurate and alive arm, and was smart, but a quiet* leader type, that’s at least one piece I can recall of the top of my head in the days following his draft.
Freeman never played with Evans.
Crap...you're right. I was thinking 2013 was Evan's rookie year. Doh!
vincent Jackson rip signed a 5 year deal with 55,555,555.55, it’s was kind of symbolic given that we had just drafted number 5. Did he even last 5 years in the league, freeman that’s is?

fixed the first line typo

Yeah, my feed got me again. Just some MIA podcaster thinking out loud basically. His conjecture actually made some sense, but there's no smoke here.
Well, now there's three or four Dolphins podcasters talking about the possibility of replacing Tua with Mayfield.
But I think the deal is basically done; I'm sure you guys have seen the clip of Baker on the "Up and Adams" show with Steve Young. Baker basically tells Steve that he's looking forward to next season with the Bucs and staying in TB for the remainder of his career. Sounds like he already knows where he's going to be playing in 2024.
Side note: Baker looks as tall as Steve Young. Always thought Steve was taller than that.
Listen Baller only looks small by comparison to his peers. All of these guys are giants even the “Short ones” are built with dense muscle mass like a muscle hamster 😂. I bet if I saw either Ballerz or Young I would be like “dang bro, you’re bigger than I thought”. Kevin hart standing next to shaq=Vita Vea and or Tristan Wirfs, Luke Goedeke, Gronk standing next to Ballerz…deceptive. Items in mirror may “seem” closer than they appear and all that….

Intended to post this - all I can say now is - I agree. Good post.

I saw this and had the same reaction. Steve Young is a nice guy, but I think his comments acknowledged seeing some things in Baker’s game that reminded him of himself. Passion, gritty (even broke his leg with the LA Express due to that similar style).
Also beginning to see the maturity that characterized Steve Young’s eventual success. Not saying Baker is as good as Steve, only noting the similarities.
A well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory....like WTF.
who is the "well-meaning, elderly man"? Steve Young?
who is the "well-meaning, elderly man"? Steve Young?
Your senile thieving seditionist father of a crackhead president... and the rest of that America hating party

Sorry, seeing that on youtube, the press conference, made me Ill. I wish he was my patient, I would treat him properly. He HAS dementia, but acknowledging that FACT would split the country. His "Doctors" are Puc's, his party is too skerred to just come out and OWN it and present a PLAN OF ACTION. Instead we'll have him- the well meaning, ealerly man with a poor memory, chasing Hamas in Mexico. Listen, dementia is a CLINICAL diagnosis, anyone who can fill out a form MMSE, can sorta "diagnose it.
