Could I see 3 years 100 million. Yes but that’s absolute highest at 33.3m APY
his floor is likely the 3 year 75 million and as DH said likely looking at 3 year 90 million as ballpark
Let him test the market and match. He's not leaving.
they've likely already priced it. His agent and the Bucs have very likely already agreed on a tight range that is the standard for the contract.
this stuff is not really “rocket surgery”

rumblings are that they may have to use trasks 1.7M cap hit in 2024 to afford greedy baker.
My source says that licht and Greenberg frequent the red board and that negotiations have stalled
claimed the inside source, “a good point was raised! we haven’t seen him play yet, he’s worth the 1.7M cap hit “
All I'm saying is IF we sign him to this much... we are fucked.
30m is even high for me but I can live with it.
$40m too much for a QB of his caliber. Maybe $30m/yr with some incentives, two years max, $40m guaranteed.
His overall stats for the season are good, but he had too many below average games. Plus the team finished at .529, .526 including the playoff games. He still has much to prove, and if he lifts this team to more regular season wins, and some playoff wins, he'll have earned bigger money.
While I might agree with you that $40 million/yr is too much, there's more than a couple arguments out there that he is worth that, and more. But here's the thing: You're basically saying he's worth less than Geno Smith, and Baker's out-performed Geno, so he's worth more than 3 years/$75 million.
Baker out-played Derek Carr, by a significant margin as well, so one could say he's worth more than the $160 million NOR paid Carr, or somewhere in that $40 million/yr range. Personally, I always knew that Carr was overpaid, but that's kind of moot; Carr did get that contract, whether he's worth it or not.
So, Baker's agent should be telling Baker that he should be asking for at least Carr $$$ as a starting point, knowing that any team will try to negotiate down for his services, because of his recent history.
While conveniently ignoring the facts. Facts like Mayfield has had 9 HCs and 8 OCs on his career, three in the last two seasons. So he's had to learn 8 offenses. And without the benefit of having any prior playing experience with most of his teammates, or coaches.
And yet in spite of all that, he's managed to win two playoffs games, and came within one questionable play by the defense of winning a third (against KC as a matter of fact).
So, with no stability with his teams or coaches and having to learn a new offense every single season, Baker's earned a better playoff record than Lamar Jackson.
All of that said, I think Baker really likes it in TB, and he knows that he's going to have to take some kind of discount if he wants to stay and keep playing with Evans, so I doubt he'll stand on the $40 million/yr thing. $35-$37 million/yr is probably what it'll take. Read somewhere that 3 yrs/$105 million with around $60 million guaranteed is probably in the ballpark.
Rumors so far, from Tony Pauline

Okay. I’ll bite.
How is he worth more than $40M per year?

SUmone Understand Me. Perfectly stated. Its a hard concept to wrap our brains around, that he has been outplaying MUCH larger contracts...Im sorry, but he has been EVEN in his own inconsistent way he manufactures ways to win and entertain us-give him more help please. I mean, who would you rather have Derrick (or even add David in there too as the backup), Geno, How'Bout MeShaun Watson-a very highly touted QB with impressive play early in his career whose personal life was so fkd it destroyed his professional one....see Kareem hunt, Aquib Talib, Aaron Hernandez...all talented, but They dont have the right, hmmmm "Je ne sais quoi" attitude. Anyhoo, pick any of them over Ballerz potential...How about Goof, would U trade him straight up for Ballerz...Not me, not now. But yeah, the pricetag he may expect, I suppose will be somewhere in its Justice place.

So let me ask you a question. What teams would offer Mayfield such a contract?
Good question. I think we should assess because I don’t think there’s many vying for his services to your point but all it takes is one
Jets - no, rodgers
Patriots - no, likely draft pick QB in top 3 - drake maye?
dolphins - no, tua
bills - no, allen
ravens - no, jackson
bengals- no, burrow
browns - no, watson
steelers - no, Pickett. Doubt they give up already. Could Russell Wilson be an option?
jaguars - no, lawrence
colts - no, Richardson
Texans - no, stroud
titans - maybe, but likely remain with Levis
chiefs - no, Mahomes
chargers - no, Herbert
raiders - maybe in the mayfield, Wilson, or cousins sweepsteaks. Not sure if Jimmy G contract situation
broncos - maybe, likely moving on from Wilson, need a QB but likely looking for cheaper option
Eagles - no, hurts
cowboys - no, Prescott
commanders - no, likely QB in draft - Daniels
giants - no, stuck with Daniel jones
packers - no, love
lions - no, goff
Vikings - maybe, likely try and retain cousins but could go with different route
bears - no, either Caleb or stick with fields
49ers - no, purdy
rams - no, Stafford
Arizona - no, likely stuck with Murray contract
seahawks - maybe, new coach, but I’d assume they’d stick with smith
Falcons - maybe, all they need is a QB so likely in the baker camp
panthers - no, stroud
saints - no, Carr
So that leaves falcons, Seahawks, Vikings, broncos, raiders and titans as maybes. Falcons likely scare me the most
Reading his quotes I am now convinced he is not the guy and the contract will 100% be a disaster. He played us out of the playoffs vs the Saints and Panthers. He can go somewhere else and stink. F him.

It's a good thing Badabing did the work, otherwise this question would have never been answered - even though it isn't rocket surgery.

I don't think the Seahawks or Titans are a competitor, with even the Raiders being iffy.
I would guess that Falcons, Vikings, & Broncos will be the main competition. Kirk Cousins is probably going to one of those, and I'd guess he either stays with Minny or goes with Sean Payton. And that would leave Mayfield with the other two options and Tampa.

i was not saying they would. And this report everyone is addressing it’s just the guys opinion
I was just saying the team and Mayfield already agreed in principle to a basic pricing. Canales leaves. Mayfield says it depends on OC. OC issue likely resolved so WHATEVER the price, the range was already tacitly agreed or they never get a Mayfield OC.
Falcons likely scare me the most
Literally one of two argument made by Pauline in the original article. (That almost no one has read lol)
I mean, he did when the “Throw at Inflatable Objects” contest.
His agent is probably salivating.
