Mayfield played a huge share of long ball. Many laymen knew that without the benefit of NextGen stats, as Mayfield ranked second in the NFL in completions of 40 yards or more and sixth in completions of 20 yards or more."

And, the part Joe conveniently left out…

Despite historically having a quality deep ball, Mayfield struggled with connecting with his receivers 20+ yards deep.

He was just 22 of 74 (29.7%) for 744 yards with nine touchdowns and four interceptions on deep passes”

🤷‍♂️

here are people who have a clue and then there are those that do not.

lolz @ "wheelhouse" and the idiot that is still trying to defend it.

reading comprehension lol

It’s the same folks defending Kirk Cousins…they just don’t like admitting it.

Again.

Just like the "Cousins was the preferred QB target by some of you" argument, in which you couldn't provide a SINGLE EXAMPLE of poster saying it.

You've now resorted to making up another straw man, that SHOCKER, you can't provide a SINGLE EXAMPLE of a poster saying it.

White lyin' is a shameless lyin'...

You may be the school marm of your house, but you can pound sand if you think I worry about documenting your posts.

You may need to get a life, outside of posting about how good a QB Kirk Cousins is.

Yeah, Mayfield being 11th in Air Yards this season pretty much covers it. There are people who have a clue and then there are those that do not.

lolz @ "wheelhouse" and the idiot that is still trying to defend it.

and there are people who struggled with signing Baker at $100m for 3 years, but wouldn’t bat an eye at an aging QB, sporting a surgically repaired achilles, at $180m for 4 years.

Takes all kinds.

Not one person in this thread said they wanted Kirk Cousins on the Bucs. Just informing folks he was the better QB in general.

That’s quite the word salad to simply say you’re full of shit, kiddo.

Of course not.

Otherwise, she’d have readily posted the receipts.

We move on…

Here's the FULL breakdown on Baker's contract:

TERMS - 3yr/$100M

SIGNING BONUS - $28,875,000

AVERAGE ANNUAL SALARY - $33.3M

GTD AT SIGNING - $40M (Signing bonus + 2024 salary + $10M of 2025 salary)

TOTAL GTD - $50M ($40M + Additional $10M of 2025 salary becomes fully guaranteed on the 5th league day of 2025...injury guarantee at signing)

ANNUAL INCENTIVES $5M per year

______

2024

  • Base Salary = $1,125,000
  • Prorated Signing Bonus = $9,625,000
  • Cap Hit = $10,750,000
  • Dead Cap = $40,125,000

2025

  • Base Salary = $30,000,000
  • Prorated Signing Bonus = $9,625,000
  • Cap Hit = $39,625,000
  • Dead Cap = $29,250,000
    • Post 6/1 Release:
      • 2025 Dead Cap = $19,625,000
      • 2026 Dead Cap = $9,625,000
      • 2025 Savings = $20,000,000

2026

  • Base Salary = $40,000,000
  • Prorated Signing Bonus = $9,625,000
  • Cap Hit = $49,625,000
  • Dead Cap = $29,250,000
    • Post 6/1 Release:
      • 2026 Dead Cap = $9,625,000
      • 2027 Dead Cap = $0
      • 2026 Savings = $40,000,000

So, as I had mentioned earlier, this is essentially a 2-year deal. And, there's an out after the 2nd year.

If he lights it up next season, I can see them restructuring/extending the deal and converting his 2025 base into a bonus and spreading a portion of it out over the duration of the new deal.

If he reverts back to old Baker, we bail on him after Y2 and eat a little less than $9M in dead money. Technically, we're only locked into him for one year, but they'd give him 2025 no matter how bad he plays.

No matter how it plays out, he won't see the 3rd year of this current deal.

He may have been a statistically better QB, over the course of a career, but he is not the better QB, now.

He requires a line we didn’t have, and still don’t have, in order to flourish, therefore he shouldn’t have been in the conversation. Further, in more career starts, he has fewer playoff wins than the QB we did sign.

omit you were looking for a QB like Cousins, you’d have to invest in a line like we built for Tom Brady…and as the Vikings proved, Kirk doesn’t give you the results for the similar financial commitment.

He additionally now has the age and injury issues.

Not sure why anyone would bring him into this conversation, especially since no one in this conversation wanted him as an option as a starting Buc QB.

So, NOW, you're saying this...

since no one in this conversation wanted him as an option as a starting Buc QB.

Yet, you've previously said posted multiple times stuff like this...

someone certainly brought it up, and you had no problem joining in. You own it as much as anyone else who offered Kirk Cousins as an option for the Bucs.

And, then, there's this...

Yes, because your option is an aging QB, who has a surgically repaired achilles 8 months ago, that’s going to demand $45m per year.

Oh, and let's not forget about this...

it’s not that your belief in Kirk Cousins being a great option for the Bucs is silly, it’s just that, like me, so much of what you think you know about him, just isn’t so, anymore.

So, you say nobody in this conversation wanted him as an option.

But, there's multiple threads and posts with you claiming that people did want him as an option (albeit, you refused to post proof of this).

So, which is it, White Lyin'?

Made a mistake with the math here.

The 2025 savings would be $10M vs. the $20M that I had posted.

My bad.

Anyone who keeps promoting how good our division rival’s QB is, yet refuses to accept that she’s doing it, while taking offense to someone calling them on it, may have a deeper commitment than she’s willing to admit.

For instance, some of us don’t really care about our conference rival’s new QB, and some of us can’t stop re-introducing him into the conversation.

Which one are you?

Gets called out on the continuous pathological lying, and continues to double down on being a weak little beta bitch.

Shocker.

I’m done slapping you around.

You don’t scare anyone on a website, and you don’t slap anyone around (in real life or on a website forum). You have some good takes, but others are just, tedious.

Let your takes stand, if someone doesn’t agree with you, it doesn’t mean they don’t think you intelligent. No one here wanted Kirk Cousins, apparently not even you, and definitely not for $180m for 4 years. I think I’ve made it clear that Cousins is no longer a good QB, i don’t care what you think about Kirk Cousins, neither did the Bucs. They could have moved on from Baker and competed with Atlanta, but decided Baker is better for the Bucs.

No, I dont care for Kirk Cousins (never have), going back to college, you beat him the same way in big games. No, he’s not an answer for us, he never would have fit here, and regardless of his stats we have the better QB, for us. Even you agree with this.

Moving on.

Mayfield not exactly the greedy, team-killer type

“This is life-changing money and I’m not going to act like otherwise,” Mayfield said."
