At a minimum Baker should get no less than Goff's deal, with about $33.5 million/yr AAV, iirc.  That should be the bottom-of-the-barrel offer he should accept.  hell, it should be the minimum offer; a lesser offer should be considered an insult, imo

Goff’s deal was for 4 years and also included $110M guaranteed.

That should be a HARD PASS from Licht.

Licht, the GM who lost Mayfield and Evans …

pretty sure it will work out, but who knows?

pretty sure none of the scenarios stood are end of the world for the Bucs or the players.

I realize they haven't even played the Superbowl yet, but I am less and less confident that either player will be back.  They are both free agents, and maybe it's agents starting the rumblings, but it sounds like there are teams out there who will overpay for both of them.  Licht isn't going to do that.  Both players are fan favorites and very good players, but they are veterans and Licht is building a young team.  Don't get me wrong the Bucs want them both back, but at what cost?  Maybe Licht won't want to match the offers they are getting.  And as for the players, if there's a significant difference in the money they have to take the money. It's a business, and it's their career.

So Licht may be the one who loses out on both players, but Baker was only here one year.   Evans is a veteran, and he will always be a ROH player for the Bucs.  Fans won't hold it against him if he takes the money.  He should take the money.

The objective Licht has to keep in focus is how to get the team to the Superbowl.  How much cap space for the next three years can you allot to Baker and Evans and still have a hope of putting a Superbowl caliber team together?  That's what Licht has to keep in mind.  There has to be a limit.  We'll see.

and led the team to the 2nd round ofg the playoffs.

It's not like he hasn't done that before. The problem some have with Baker, are the games in between his playoff victories. In other words, consistency.

Um, not to argue, but you guys are aware that Baker got hurt in the 2nd game of the 2021 season, tore his labrum, and then reinjured it four weeks later, and also fractured his shoulder blade, right?  Then a couple weeks after that, he suffered a knee injury.  I mean, yeah, he wasn't very good in 2021, but he was also hurt from the 2nd week through the rest of the season.  I mean, context does matter, doesn't it?

These sorts of details, contextual details mind you, get lost with time.  Heres another contextual detail that will be lost with time, Stat sheet is going to say Baller threw 2 picks. We will forget that the first one hit ME in the hand and, unfortunately tipped up into the air- The second was on him.  In this manner, most understand that he wasnt good in 2021-the stat keepers have a great memory of numbers-but we forget that he was injured, or play down the injuries significance.  Didnt Drew Brees get injured in San Diego?  I dunno, I cant remember.  Caddilac Williams "career" ending patellar injury-Remember he was all slashing runner- HE COULDnt catch a cold as a rookie.  Then his prized possession was taken from him, his powerful legs, so what did he do.  He learned how to catch and be useful in other ways, and he was.  I wish that he had never hurt his leg AND still learned to catch- That may have been Faulk-like in a dream somewhere.  Who still remembers Caddy5Willaims rookie game, that was a record until the GRBOAT Adrian Peterson (THanks Monte-"only one ball to go around- Gruden wanted him ANYWAY) shattered it and the rest is hx.  Who remembers Adrian Peterson as the GRBOAT, not many...he never won a SB (IIRC?).  Point is, we often recall a situation, for example- Ballerz "stat-line" from just 3 years ago, but either forget- or play down the significance of his injury and his coaching shituation, and just name these things "inborn inconsistency."  We forget easy AND conveniently

With Baker's recent issue with his family misappropriating his money and him playing for only about $6 mil I fully expect him to go to the team who offers him the most guaranteed money.  This may be his one last shot at some real money and he has to get it while he can.  So he's not looking at where he's going to be most successful.  He's looking at who's ponying up with the guaranteed cash.  So based on that I don't think it's a lock he'll come back to the Bucs.  If I were him that's how I'd be looking at it.

Is his OWN FAMILY truly Shafting him as WELL????  WTF, even family.  Man, Guy cant catch a break.  Lets see how he RESPONDs to this adversity TOO.

There has to be a limit.

There is

I think they will get it done. The OC hiring stands out. Evans' people talking with the Bucs since last year. Mayfield's since late in season at a minimum.

You are clueless beyond doubt and know absolutely nothing about Mayfield

You just hope he does this so Trask can play

The last effing thing Baker wants to do is start over again with a 9th HC in 7 seasons. That's pure ignorance and a turning a blind eye to everything there is to see here

Its called Esprit de corps

It's unfornunate that so many people cannot see through the BS, inlcuding Licht.

Forget where he was drafted, we gave a journeyman QB excellent OTs, excellent WRs, a great pass catching RB and an OC who became a HC in 1 season and the journeyman QB gets the credit and the contract. It's such an ignorant way to go about this.

Hard to argue with anything posted, here.

fair except maybe that it is incomplete? HOW ABOUT THIS MINOR EDIT FOR COMPLETENESS?

Posted by: @jc5100

we gave a journeyman QB excellent OTs, excellent WRs, a great pass catching RB and an OC who became a HC in 1 season and the journeyman QB gets the credit FROM, among many others, one of those OTs WHO IS A FUTURE HOFer AND ONE OF THOSE WRs . . ALSO A FUTURE HoFer . .  BOTH OF WHOM WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO SAY MAYFIELD SHOULD BE BACK.

So, the contract is the contract, whatever the market dictates, but in terms of the "credit" . .  this is where some here are REALLY THROWING STONES FROM INSIDE THEIR GLASS HOUSES because I seem to recall the most obnoxious, most over-zealous Trask loving, Mayfield bashing poster here - a guy who wanted to bench Mayfield in October - JUSTIFYING the hilarious, absurd, over-the-top late season bashing of Mayfield BY TRASK SUPPORTERS ("nice run by mayfield, but he probably had 4 guys open") by saying, in essence:

"Thats just the way it is in football, you simpleton, the QB always gets too much credit and blame."

:-)

It's unfortunate that so many people cannot see through the BS, including Licht. . . and Wirfs and Evans and Derrick Brooks and . .

JC, I imagine you have genuine concerns, but every offseason you post about the imminent collapse of the Bucs because of what you see as the incompetence of our GM.  Every season. Super Bowl, playoffs . . pro Bowls. all-pros . .doesn't matter. Every damn season lol.

So, whatever it is you are trying to convey now . .  YOU MAY BE RIGHT, but it's got to be coming across to some here as just the latest cry of wolf.

Hard to understand why so many here LOVE EVANS but ignore his words on Mayfield . . the guy who would be throwing to him in the TWILIGHT of his career, especially when most of those same people concede there isn't really an alternative that compares.

They will works something out with Mayfield and Evans . . or they will not.  Either scenario . . the Bucs will be fine.  The Red Board might explode (if they sign Mayfield to a $.01 over $25 million) . . but the Bucs will carry on just fine

an OC who became a HC in 1 season . . .

had this to say about Mayfield yesterday

"What a stud! . .  such a vibrant   . great leader. This guy has no limitations to what he can do with his arm. Really creative in how he moves in the pocket and finds things.”

FWIW, I don't put too much stock into what one player says about another player in the media. You don't see too many players throw a teammate under the bus, or an ex-teammate for that matter (not including Antonio Brown).
