Now, this is reasonable.
Agreed and I think the numbers are what you and multiple people have posted here. I think the circumstances could bring his $ up a bit, but it should be a number that lets the team achieve its goals.
From the article
Mayfield is top-10 in the NFL in touchdowns while limiting his interceptions to less than 12 this year and re-kindled the discussions over whether his ceiling as a quarterback is that of a top-10 guy in the NFL. He is top-5 in average depth of target while maintaining a league-average turnover-worthy play rate. He has done all of this without the aid of his deep ball, but by legitimately improving how well he works the intermediate part of the field.
All of this puts him on a trajectory to earn a mid-tier deal that will most likely work off the original model set by Teddy Bridgewater in Carolina in 2020 and then updated by Geno Smith and the Seahawks in 2022.
- Franchise Tag Likelihood: Low
- 3 years $82.5M, $27.5M APY, $32.5M Fully Gtd
- Year One Cap Hit: $12.5 million

I'm sorry, but if Baker accepted a contract that low, I'd be disappointed in him, and more particularly, his agent.
Baker is significantly better than Geno. There's just no argument otherwise. At a minimum Baker should get no less than Goff's deal, with about $33.5 million/yr AAV, iirc. That should be the bottom-of-the-barrel offer he should accept. hell, it should be the minimum offer; a lesser offer should be considered an insult, imo.
Let him test the market and match. He's not leaving.
they've likely already priced it. His agent and the Bucs have very likely already agreed on a tight range that is the standard for the contract.
this stuff is not really “rocket surgery”
So let me ask you a question. What teams would offer Mayfield such a contract?
It's a good thing Badabing did the work, otherwise this question would have never been answered - even though it isn't rocket surgery.
"The Bucs actually asked Baker Mayfield for his input on all the coaches they were interviewing, including Liam Coen. “Do I know them? Do I have any interaction? What are my thoughts on that?” Mayfield said, adding that it was a “first” for him to be involved in that."
=RESPECT shown by JL and the Glazers to Baker. That’s a “gesture”, that’s free btw, that is worth more than money. That’s also called an intangible, “respect given first,” that is common among the Real Ones. It’s a good first step by the org to let Baller know they respect him and are very deadly serious about pursuing him to lead the Org and attempt to fill the shoes, giant Goat sized shoes btw, of his predecessor. Tough act to follow, the former Carolina Qb the Superman wannabe (his fashion sense was also-questionable to mI tastes anyhoo), tried…and failed so hard Chuck Norris kicked him out of Foxboro. But, aside from P’Ma being the guy to fill those shoes…I can’t really think of anyone else to even try it. There are many other Amazing QBs and all may arguably better athletes, sure, better qb’s arguably-sure, consistent, sure…but Ballerz’got fire. For example…take Lamar Jackson or Jalen Hurts for example. As great as Jackson is, he unfortunately is married in Baltimore..the AFC. All roads to the SB lead through Andy Reid and P’Ma…if the Ravens win more than 1 superbowl over the Chiefs during the Mahomes “era” I will be shocked. The Ravens don’t have enough 🔥 to take on Andy Reid, P’Ma and the Chiefs- the chiefs will be dining on Raven for the foreseeable future. One win, one trophy does not a dynasty make-yoda sage like wisdom. Luckily we play in the NFC and at least have a chance to get to the big Game, and if we are in the Game we’ll’ we got a punchers chance to maybe steal one…or maybe even go Eli mode and steal 2. Given our options, I feel you gotta fight fire with fire. BALLERz isn’t P’Ma, but even still….he almost stole one from him while playing as a Brown, imagine what he can do as a Buccaneer with ME and Gwin catching for him, Wirfa covering his blind side, and Vita, LVD, CK, AW3! Playing free, fast, and aggressive. In a perfect* scenario, we would have a fighters shot….thats all a Buccaneer needs, and maybe one TO bullet.
Just let it go, buddy.
Notice how the drunken, self-righteous, sack of shit now labels you "a troll" simply because you disagree with him.
Honestly, I think the irony of the whole thing is that you are BY FAR the biggest Trask fan on these boards, yet Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Drunk talk about him 10 times more than you do. 😂
Oh, I know, but it's kind of cathodic to push the buttons and see what shit he spews next. There were reporters who reported that Trask was playing better in camp, and I could see the difference in play in the preseason (a guy who was consistently hitting intermediate routes and moving the chains more, vs the experienced guy who was either 3 and out or managed a couple of short drives for TD's). What's funny was he said I was comparing Trask to Brady and Purdy, when I was only showing how nobody knows what they have until the dude gets a chance to play. Maybe he could be the next Purdy or Brady. Or maybe he could be the next Ryan Leaf. I only have belief in him because he showed the key traits in college that good NFL QB's have (proper reads, quick progressions, and keeping your eyes down field). I'd like to see the Bucs get some damn value out of that 2nd round pick instead of wasting it and going with Mr. Inconsistent, but it's not my call. All I can say is, if he is resigned, and we have another streak of 5 or 6 loses in 7 games, the Glazers should consider a house cleaning.
It's all good. I guess I'll just keep being thought of by him as a "troll". 😆
As an add on sorry. Regarding gestures, gestures of good faith, and “respect given first.” Hiring the Offensive Coordinator, hand picking in fact, then Committing Before BALLERz does, shows the Glazers intent without them having to broadcast it on billboards…and it’s a big gamble. They have saddled themselves with an OC for Baller benefit-for continuity and stability (and Baller can still jet to Carolina like Canales and betray the organization that gave him a shot to resurrect his career). If you understand how “private people” communicate (hint—>thrU actIons) you can understand the “msg” they are putting down. They believe in him, unlike Cleveland and MeShaun Watson’the massage connoisseur, and are/have already taken a gamble on the guy. Ballz in Ballerz court now, what does HE dU? What can I even dU….hmmmm,….Popcorn at the ready and hope to be entertained.

Goff’s deal was for 4 years and also included $110M guaranteed.
That should be a HARD PASS from Licht.
Licht, the GM who lost Mayfield and Evans …
pretty sure it will work out, but who knows?
pretty sure none of the scenarios stood are end of the world for the Bucs or the players.
I realize they haven't even played the Superbowl yet, but I am less and less confident that either player will be back. They are both free agents, and maybe it's agents starting the rumblings, but it sounds like there are teams out there who will overpay for both of them. Licht isn't going to do that. Both players are fan favorites and very good players, but they are veterans and Licht is building a young team. Don't get me wrong the Bucs want them both back, but at what cost? Maybe Licht won't want to match the offers they are getting. And as for the players, if there's a significant difference in the money they have to take the money. It's a business, and it's their career.Licht, the GM who lost Mayfield and Evans …

So Licht may be the one who loses out on both players, but Baker was only here one year. Evans is a veteran, and he will always be a ROH player for the Bucs. Fans won't hold it against him if he takes the money. He should take the money.
The objective Licht has to keep in focus is how to get the team to the Superbowl. How much cap space for the next three years can you allot to Baker and Evans and still have a hope of putting a Superbowl caliber team together? That's what Licht has to keep in mind. There has to be a limit. We'll see.
and led the team to the 2nd round ofg the playoffs.
It's not like he hasn't done that before. The problem some have with Baker, are the games in between his playoff victories. In other words, consistency.
Um, not to argue, but you guys are aware that Baker got hurt in the 2nd game of the 2021 season, tore his labrum, and then reinjured it four weeks later, and also fractured his shoulder blade, right? Then a couple weeks after that, he suffered a knee injury. I mean, yeah, he wasn't very good in 2021, but he was also hurt from the 2nd week through the rest of the season. I mean, context does matter, doesn't it?
These sorts of details, contextual details mind you, get lost with time. Heres another contextual detail that will be lost with time, Stat sheet is going to say Baller threw 2 picks. We will forget that the first one hit ME in the hand and, unfortunately tipped up into the air- The second was on him. In this manner, most understand that he wasnt good in 2021-the stat keepers have a great memory of numbers-but we forget that he was injured, or play down the injuries significance. Didnt Drew Brees get injured in San Diego? I dunno, I cant remember. Caddilac Williams "career" ending patellar injury-Remember he was all slashing runner- HE COULDnt catch a cold as a rookie. Then his prized possession was taken from him, his powerful legs, so what did he do. He learned how to catch and be useful in other ways, and he was. I wish that he had never hurt his leg AND still learned to catch- That may have been Faulk-like in a dream somewhere. Who still remembers Caddy5Willaims rookie game, that was a record until the GRBOAT Adrian Peterson (THanks Monte-"only one ball to go around- Gruden wanted him ANYWAY) shattered it and the rest is hx. Who remembers Adrian Peterson as the GRBOAT, not many...he never won a SB (IIRC?). Point is, we often recall a situation, for example- Ballerz "stat-line" from just 3 years ago, but either forget- or play down the significance of his injury and his coaching shituation, and just name these things "inborn inconsistency." We forget easy AND conveniently.
With Baker's recent issue with his family misappropriating his money and him playing for only about $6 mil I fully expect him to go to the team who offers him the most guaranteed money. This may be his one last shot at some real money and he has to get it while he can. So he's not looking at where he's going to be most successful. He's looking at who's ponying up with the guaranteed cash. So based on that I don't think it's a lock he'll come back to the Bucs. If I were him that's how I'd be looking at it.
Is his OWN FAMILY truly Shafting him as WELL???? WTF, even family. Man, Guy cant catch a break. Lets see how he RESPONDs to this adversity TOO.
There has to be a limit.
There is
I think they will get it done. The OC hiring stands out. Evans' people talking with the Bucs since last year. Mayfield's since late in season at a minimum.

You are clueless beyond doubt and know absolutely nothing about Mayfield
You just hope he does this so Trask can play
The last effing thing Baker wants to do is start over again with a 9th HC in 7 seasons. That's pure ignorance and a turning a blind eye to everything there is to see here
Its called Esprit de corps
It's unfornunate that so many people cannot see through the BS, inlcuding Licht.
Forget where he was drafted, we gave a journeyman QB excellent OTs, excellent WRs, a great pass catching RB and an OC who became a HC in 1 season and the journeyman QB gets the credit and the contract. It's such an ignorant way to go about this.

Hard to argue with anything posted, here.
