took some time even for the great Tom Brady to adjust to the Bucs back in 2020. If you recall, they were 7-5, he being the goat has 28 touchdowns and 11 INTs (but to note 2 games included a 9 TD, 1NT performance). Bucs then went on a 4-0 run, 12 TDs to 1 INT performance by Brady against 4 shit teams
Yep. He sure did.
He also ended that initial campaign with over 4,600 yards and 40 TD's.
Oh, and that was with a 16-game schedule.
For the life of me, I simply can't understand why some on here want to compare Brady to Mayfield. It's lazy, and nothing more than the Baker Bro's dick riding a 2-game hot streak.
Even the Rick Stroud wannabe on this board (Supposed expert on all things Bucs, zero football acumen, drunk driving sack of shit troll), started a thread doing just that...only to admit it was essentially click-bait (a la Stroud).
Bucs are 8-7. And yes Baker was playing ELITE like the last 2 weeks. Hell, if he does that, and this team puts up 30 a game; we can make a serious run. The Bucs favored against Carolina but underdogs the last 3 wins.
Of course we can make a serious run if we're averaging 30+ppg.
That being said, I highly doubt we'll be facing the Packers or Jaguars in the playoffs.
Instead, we'll more likely be facing the Eagles or the Lions. Where Baker already shit the bed against both this season.
Especially, the Lions. That might have been one of the most embarrassing outings I've ever seen from a QB live. And, the tape was even worse.
Hopefully, we continues the positive trend.
But, it's clear as day, Canales is the difference maker for this offense. I hope Baker can keep up.
Giving all the credit to Canales is a weird flex.
It's both of them right now. Two to tango

And, you know that’s not what I said.
I’ve given Baker his flowers the past few weeks.
But, plug him into last year’s offense and what would you have?
In my opinion, Canales is the difference maker.

It is. They are a perfect match.
also a reason we may lose Canales. His ability to get the best out of players, adjust his offense (STARK contrast to Leftwich), motivator (another stark contrast lol)
The last few games though Mayfield has been stellar. Of course you have those who wanted to bench him for Trask - BECAUSE PLAYOFFS DONT MATTER LOL - now crediting him BEGRUDGINGLY and with hilarious caveats (nice run, bet 16 guys were open) or it’s all Canales (just like White’s performance was all Bowles)
I thought last game Mayfield would’ve come back to earth a bit more. Let’s see how he (and Canales) do against the Saints.

bakers ability to scramble likely would have helped the team more last year
but it’s a hypothetical we will never be able to prove so not worth discussing as we will agree to disagree
one thing is for sure. The team this year looks more formidable. Probably a combination of baker and Canales and even Todd Bowles improving on his aggressiveness
wondering if it’s between Canales and Bowles, if Bowles gets the Lovie-dirk treatment to keep Canales
helped the team more last year
Brady would have refused, but Canales' offense would've helped last year because it literally addressed head on the problem face by last years 66/33 pass-run team.
People seem to downplay how much last year was a Brady vanity play. Last year was the price for the super Bowl and to a lesser extent (thanks to Bowles/Canales and Mayfield) this year too.
if Bowles gets the Lovie-dirk treatment to keep Canales
if they finsih ok and compete in the playoff, you can see the Bucs easily going with Bowles/Canales again with the ultimate goal of Canales potentially taking over a la Arians- Bowles
It is always a LOT different against top talent with film BUT a 2024 Bucs team with an offense that is near the current offense AND hopefully a defense like that last game is a a contender. Thats what makes it particularly interesting because Bowles defense should be able to be pretty dominant. Think about the Bucs winning early on turnovers EVEN WITH very substandard play from Mayfield and the offense. Those kind of turnovers with a real offense . .. .
bakers ability to scramble likely would have helped the team more last year
And, his inability to read defenses, inaccuracies, etc. would've led to a 4-13 record at best.
Again, more of an indictment on the dipshit OC we had last year.
but it’s a hypothetical we will never be able to prove so not worth discussing as we will agree to disagree
Of course we won't. But, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know how it would turn out.
Yet, even in this thread; our resident drunk-driving, ambulance chasing, sack of shit still insinuates that Brady was the problem last year (not Byron).

Agreed.
We're not relying on Brady carrying a 3-14 team (without him) on his shoulders. Trying to overcome the worst OC the NFL has seen in the last decade.
Oddly enough, we're seeing a new OC (who helped orchestrate Geno Smith's resurrection and career year), turn Baker Mayfield into a Pro-Bowl QB.
And, after several months of shit QB play, Baker seems to be "getting it". And, at the best time possible.
Momentum going into a possible postseason run. Gotta love it.
I don't care about the garbage time stats. He was a disaster today. He botched the 3rd and 1 on the first drive because he's an idiot pre-snap. He deserves SHIT this off-season.

Mayfied had 110 passing yards when the offense took the field with approximately 10:30 left in Q4. As you said, he did start throwing better at the end of the game. But he played like shit for the first three+ quarters.
Baker wasn’t good today but Canales and those 2 fumbles were what killed us
I mean what did he have 11 pass attempts in the first half? Down 17-0 at that point
then we running still late in the third and white fumbles the game away
hell, if Palmer doesn’t fumble with 4 minutes left we have a chance to win this game
pretty remarkable with how shit all facets of the game were that we still had a chance if not remarkable bad turnovers and us basically QB kneeling through halfway through the third quarter
pretty remarkable
We were losing 0-20 in the 4th qtr at home vs a bad team. You guys are DELUSIONAL

This
and both lines being totally overmatched
