Early in the season a mobile Mayfield punished defenses who played man against him by breaking off big runs. His own injuries and WR injuries have all but ended that:
"When Mayfield is throwing against a man defense, the success percentage of his throws is 36 percent. To put that in context, that’s in the same ballpark as Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel.
With the exception of Egbuka, we don't have receivers who win their matchups. Shepherd, Otton etc. versus a healthy Evans, Godwin and/or McMillan. And when Egbuka torches his defender, Mayfield has a bad throw

This throw should be to the inside
Maybe he's more healthy now? Maybe Godwin comes up big. Falcons coaches playing for their jobs
Joe Burrow ?
wonder how many draft picks that will take?
baker and 2 first?
do injuries make it safer to roll with baker
Not only is baker injured this year he is playing with a much worse o line.
i felt bad for him during our atl collapse.
whatd they have 5 sacks?
mauch is missed.
as much as we need to to address several defensive positions iOL is a huge need as well.
baker deserves 40-45 over 3 years.
pr had an interesting one year deal with about a 10 mil raise compared to what he’s making this year. I wouldn’t be opposed.

yeah dont mind a 1 year deal at 43M.
the issue is if he wants 50-60M and a 5 year deal; if he repeated 2024 performance, would be a no brainer
but he regressed big time. He'd have better numbers with a healthy squad no doubt but that game losing INT Thursday night is not something that should be overlooked; brutally bad and he needs to be better if we are going to win the Superbowl with him; think the Washington playoff lost last year.

Agree, Mayfield just isn't as sharp as he was last season. Not only was the INT horrible, but he missed Egbuka to end the game. Guys like Stafford hit that target easily and win the game. And the Bucs late-game offense early in the season was more dependent on Baker's legs, not his arm.

yeah like dont get me wrong, Baker is up there for one of our best QBs in franchise history lol but that is more of a testament to our "SUCK" then it is to him being ELITE
he entered the year as a top 10 guy, now maybe he's in the 15 to 20 range with his slumping last 2 months, and that's where we need him to be to warrant a 50M + per year deal. top 10
Yeah Baker is still in the thick of things based on how he finishes the last three games. But he is a streaky player like Darnold and because of that I wouldn't be surprised if he picks up his play the last three games with his WR core returning to their full potential.
The injuries goes back to my original point. His style of play means he will be hurt often, and he'll play hurt. But every injury whether its a knee or a shoulder or back or whatever effects his throwing ability. And over time you don't go back to 100%. Over time those injuries will compound and his ability to throw will be compromised. Not only is baker injured this year he is playing with a much worse o line.

Baker has to change the way he plays, and I don't think he wants to do that. If Licht goes up to Baker and says "We want to give you a long term deal, but you have to change your playing style" what do you think Baker's answer would be?

baker will take the money; also not sure there’s may teams willing to give out 50M per year so Tampa is his best choice
I am just saying dont make the same mistake you made with Bowles and McCollum and let baker contract play out in 2026; he isn’t leaving us
OK then what? So we let him play out 2026. We already know what Baker is going to give us. He has nothing to prove. Baker will be some version of Baker again in 2026. Now he's a free agent. What do we do at that point? It's not a "prove it" situation. So if you are going to let it play out you should be able to tell me what the plan is for Baker after 2026. So what is it? Are you letting him walk? The injuries goes back to my original point. His style of play means he will be hurt often, and he'll play hurt. baker is very much in a prove it situation
he has played himself into a situation of “is he a starter in this league”
he very much has a lot to prove next year
Baker is too inconsistent to hand any extension.

^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^
He makes a huge 25-30 yd run. Then a crushing INT to lose the game. Sums it up in two plays. BAKER IS NOT ELITE.

he’s a top 20 qb which was good for post Brady but now need to decide if good enough to build around
under coen he was a top 10 QB so he has potential. We need to hire an offensive guy to see what guy baker is.
if he’s top 10, throw him the contract extension at premium value, but if this year is more of who he is, can we win with him? Idk
