Campbell on Mayfield's intangibles:
“I worked Mark Andrews out when he was coming out of OU, the same year [as Mayfield] in 2018. So I went out there, it’s cold, and his quarterback, he had like flipflops on — Baker. Baker is going to throw for him.
“Well, Baker threw for every one of his guys coming out that year. And I think he already had two private workouts the two days prior and he had one that afternoon and I think one the next day.
“So, that just says a lot about the guy. There is no wonder why people rally around him and follow him. Because he is that type of teammate.
“There’s a lot of guys that wouldn’t do that. ‘Well, I’ve got to save my arm, so-and-so club is coming in.’ Well, that wasn’t him. You can respect stuff like that now.”
Look...nobody on here dislikes Baker for his intangibles. The guy clearly knows how to get comfy with his teammates. Quite frankly, I don't think anyone dislikes him for anything beyond his inconsistent play. It's all about the play, man. All about the play. If he can become consistent enough where he plays games like the Eagles and Packers game on 5 or 6 occasions during the season and has 5-7 "average" games, I really doubt you'd have anyone here calling for another QB. Let's see if he can string together some good to great performances.

Well written. Truth.

Nice. Good anecdote.

yes, agree. I don’t doubt most see his intangibles. Just thought a good example.
I also think everyone sees the inconsistency, but that’s really a next year issue, right? This year is only Lions unless/until we win.
Speaking of next year
”Richard Sherman was on his podcast this week saying Mayfield will command at least $40 million per year, and possibly as much as $45 million.”
Badabing guessed 25 mill early on, I think
Who are the Bucs negotiating against except themselves? Baker needs the Bucs more than the Bucs need Baker.

uh…. wut?
honestly have no idea where that comes from.

I'll dumb it down for you. If the Bucs were not an option for Mayfield, what teams are aggressively bidding on him?
I'll dumb it down for you.
lol.
that followed with the “aggressively bidding” qualification.
IIRC, you are the one bidding against st yourself right? You initially placed his value ar zero, then $10 million, then…
who was “aggressively bidding” against you?
He just had a nice year , led his team to the playoffs in a new offense , won a playoff game , hopefully more …. And he’s only 28
other teams will be interested

You can't answer the question because you know he has no market outside of Tampa. His deal should be low and filled with incentives. If he doesn't like it he can go test the market. I heard New England is nice this time of year. Good weapons too.

I don’t claim any unique knowledge about contract values. You claim to be a former GM, right?
I think he gets the market rate for a starting QB. My guess (and it’s only a blind guess) is between $25-40.
What is your actual revised, revised answer? You had zero then $10, so what does he actually get? Not what you think he deserves, what does he actually sign?
