He's not inconsistent in the playoffs tho is he~?
Actually, yes he is Mrs. Mayfield:
Game 1 - Good 115.2 QB rating (3 TD, 0 Int, 263 yards, 7.7 YPA)
Game 2 - Bad 74.6 QB rating (1 TD, 1 Int, 204 yards, 5.5 YPA)
Game 3 - Really Good 119.8 QB rating (3 TD, 0 Int, 337 yards, 9.4 YPA)
Let's hope that pattern doesn't continue this weekend.
And who did he play and what were the quality of the defenses? (This is called context)
We already know the eagles defense was awful this year.
Pitt he destroyed. KC he didn't but there were a ton of controversial calls in that game that hurt his stats.
QBR is just like any other stat... does it account for drops? I know it accounts for quality of defense and sacks... does it account for pressure? Garbage time? Clutch time?
I bet Kevin Stefanski didn’t call a good game the time Mayfield struggled. Poor guy just can’t catch a break.
He played playoff teams. That’s your context. But the constant effort to make excuses is cute.
Eagles are a playoff team. They're a good defense?
2020 Steelers: 3rd overall, 3rd scoring (BM played well)
2020 Chiefs: 16th overall, 10th scoring (BM didn't play well)
2023 Eagles: 26th overall, 30th scoring (BM played well)
The 2020 Steelers was the best defense he faced in the playoffs and he lit them up. How does that fit into your newest excuse? He played well in one game vs. a great Defense. And then he didn't the next game vs. a lesser defense. And then he did the next game vs. an even lesser defense. Consistently inconsistent, regardless of opponent.
It's comical watching you attempt to square-peg this round-hole.
It tells me you have 3 games with no correlation... is it possible one game was a great game plan (Steelers) and the other was a lesser game plan (Chiefs)? What about all the controversial calls on the Chiefs game? Plays literally at the goal line...
Stats are great but they are not the end all be all.
Let's think about the eagles game... some of Baker's best throws ended in a drop. Some of his most routine throws ended with 50 yards YAC and a TD. Wide open throws.
What I do know about Baker is he CAN play like a top 10 QB (we both agree there) but where we disagree is that is that it's a binary Baker good/Baker bad type analysis.
Largely, I believe the game the plan and play calling play a major factor in QB production.
IE I do not think Mahomes would have had a good year under Lefty last year.

I think you’re starting to get it. Consistently inconsistent.

I have no idea how you can watch his performances this season and not see that his play is up and down. Although there is mounting evidence that makes it more believable.
I see plenty of inconsistency... we both do. What you don't see is the role of the OC in it (for better or for worse).

Cade Otton has been an inconsistent pass catcher and blocker. The playcaller’s role in this cannot be ignored.
I don't disagree but the role of the coordinator is to get the most out of your talent.
Otton is soft but he does get open... he bounced back well vs Philly after the drops.
Im telling you the Lions are gonna be a tough test, they disguise they’re coverages very well and Mayfield is gonna need to be on, because the windows are gonna be tight and the opportunities will be limited he has to be “him” for us to win.
There were NUMEROUS opportunities against the Lions earlier this year. At the intermediate level, for explosives, deep ball there all game, etc.
Canales dialed up a good one against the multiple looks they faced. Unfortunately, Baker simply shit the bed all day long.
It was one of the most frustrating games in recent memory to watch in person.
Opportunity after opportunity squandered.

Baker def left some point on the board with big plays.
But our small ball that game from Canales wasn't good... it's also Bowles again having urgency when dow

My only question is...Are the Lions who they were when we last faced them? Or are they a different team NOW ans We are a different team NOW. We're figna 🤣 find out tomorrow, which version of which team grew together better throughout the course of the season and 1st post season game. Im a BUCS fan and I root for my team regardless of whether they are 6.BS point underDOGS. I say we can win, I say I think we WILL win, if we played like we did VS the EAGLES but now the next "weeks version of the BUCCANEERS" they version that had 6 days to review film and shore up deficiency. 6 Days to review what they did right and continue scheming ways to recreate similar situations vs the Kitties, Ive heard it said their pass D is a potential chink in their armor- If BaLler brings the same arm to the KITTY DEN that HE HAD against the stinkin IGGLES in our home and IF ME!!!3 and Otten catch a few more balls and we put the ball in GW!!!!4 hands a few more times, running, recieving, fak it read option- just place the ball in his hands like 10 times this game...We do that, avoid shooting ourselves in the foot, and we WILL win, now theres just the SMALL matter of the players actually going out their and making it happen with their own hands, their own guys, blood sweat tears and all that yada yada, tldr-THEY gotta do it, or its all (this season anyway) for Naught.
Good Post DH
Ramon B 1981 GOOO BUCS!!!!
Or are they a different team NOW
Better I think. Definitely healthier so that alone probably makes them better

Guess you're among the clowns, as you're on record saying you wouldn't be in favor of him getting signed to a big deal.
Unlike you, when asked to provide proof of a post/statement, I have receipts.

hey there he/him/they is right on cue. How'd you know i was referring to you.
As much as I'm on board the Baker train like any Bucs fan, the thing that concerns me is whether he can stay healthy. The Bucs have been fortunate that the starting QB hasn't missed a game in the last five years. That's not normal IMO. The Bucs can't plan for that to continue.
Baker's a tough guy, but the punishment he takes will take it's toll over time. What do you think he'll be like after a couple more years of getting banged up ribs, shoulders, ankles, etc? I'm in favor of a three year deal with half to 2/3 guaranteed. So whatever the going rate is pay it, but not for more than three years with an out after two. The Bucs have been very fortunate with the health of their QBs in the Brady years and now Mayfield. They haven't missed a game. Licht can't bank on that good luck continuing, not with the way Mayfield plays.
