Apparently at half time he told the team “if they do this they are running cover 2. this cover 3” etc etc
interesting. Was a night and day difference between the first and second halves that’s for sure.
And we still only scored 20 points, yikes
And we still only scored 20 points, yikes
And only 10 points in the second half.
Mayfield played better in the second half, no doubt. But nobody will be confusing him with prime Peyton Manning anytime soon.
is not that he knew them he figured them out or at least the tendency.
Someone posted that the Evans route was great scheme (by the Oc). welp . . lol
"They got into a film session on Sunday’s Bucs win in Minnesota and Mayfield noted how huge the touchdown to Mike Evans was late in the first half. He explained how he picked up a zone-defense tell from veteran Vikings safety Harrison Smith and that led to him making the call to Evans deep.
In another thread there is talk about the first attempt to throw to Evans deep and a link posted analyzing the play. I referenced the play as the kind of defense you'd play against Evans (based on last years film) AND also to fool MAYFIELD. It could've easily have been a Mayfield pick because pre-snap it was Evans one one one in MAN but at the snap it became zone with the safety dropping
KUDOS to Mayfield for picking up on this stuff through the game and capitalizing

Who was that, dipshit? Should be easy enough to provide a link to the quote. I’m guessing you’ll scour for hours and come up short.

You reference a lot of stuff. And like the above, most of it isn’t based in reality. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Just repeating coach-speak nonstop, like simpleton you are.
I’ve never seen somebody post so much while saying so little. Completely clueless, yet you infest every fuggin’ thread.
Only 10 points but had the game been tied we were in position to score again... for whatever that's worth.
Game script kept the game low scoring imo... at least in the 2nd half.
First half was just awful... aside from the Evans TD.

It's a fair point that the Bucs could possibly have scored at least another FG, as Godwin's conversion was at the Minny 28. It's also possible that Mayfield throws a soul-crushing interception on the next play.

Clearly, I'm a soothsayer.

dont get me wrong, a Win is a Win...and Baker won me over with that last drive, tough run and huge completion for first down. Hell, Bowles won me over with that decision to throw on 3rd down to ice the game. That aggressiveness is not like him.
BUT we won because of 3 turnovers by Minny. How often will we win 3-0 in the TO battle? and we still won by a field goal.
need to play better if we want to be a playoff contender...but good to be 1-0 rather than 0-1 saying that

Bowles kinda win
How often will we win 3-0 in the TO battle?
Probably not often.
Left a lot of points on the field. Mayfield missing Kieft on a layup TD. Evans dropping a layup TD.
Need to start stronger on offense and stay aggressive on defense.
This needs to be a statement win. Home opener against a flailing team, who is reportedly having major locker room issues.
Needs to be a two-score win.
