Brady def wasn’t GOAT ish in his final year.I’d argue that the old GOAT, wasn’t very GOAT-like in his final year in Tampa…
These thoughts ^^ about Brady would be ABSOLUTE HERESY in 2022 lol.
Even in 2023, few ideas caused more battles here on the Red Board than anyone questioning Brady 2022 (even though you could see it with your on eyes)
If you listen to Ira Kaufman's podcast, right at the very end (35th minute)
Lee Diekemper REPORTS that they heard at the Super Bowl confirmation of what everyone saw with their eyes which was that Brady LOST THE TEAM in 2022 because he was not committed to playing, refused to stand in the pocket etc, all while demanding more from all of them.
All three then say they stand by that reporting and specifically call out the 49ers game as the best example of the team basically ignoring Brady's pleadings.

i was one on that boat with Donkey Hunter. I just couldn't believe the drop off from 2021 MVP caliber Brady to what we saw in 2022. I was in denial. I was blaming Leftwich for all of it. He got a brunt of the blame, but much like i gave much of the blame to Canales for playcalling this year when the offense would struggle.
dont get me wrong though, Leftwich was not good and needed to go but much like most issues, the answers is usually somewhere in the middle. Brady not holding in there at the pocket allowing plays to develop likely contributed to the issues and in particular not having 3 (Kappa, Jensen, Marpet) out of 5 of our top line also contributed to this.
will forever be grateful to Brady for having our most successful 2 year stint from both a playoff success, winning percentage and joyous perspective as a fan!
but i definitely enjoyed 2023 more than 2022...not sure about any of you
Personally, I don't have SB expectations for next year. We were incredibly lucky we didn't lose to Carolina last year in a do or die setting. I expect the division to be much better with the coaching/personnel changes in place. We'll have to wait and see which teams do what but I don't think the Saints or Falcons are that far behind in taking the reigns. The bar is always set for that. I think that’s what keeps most fans watching. Most of us know we need a great team to compete for a SB. We’re a few pieces light, but we should be another year closer…and if things break right, at least we found a QB that can maximize the weapons on offense. So the bar is set for you, the Bucs are super bowl contenders next season. Its super bowl or bust.well, the defense was world class - just trying to put a little emphasis on the fact that that defense didn’t win a Super Bowl until the offense was capable. This defense is no where near that one. However, the sum is better than its parts. We won a Super Bowl with an old statue quarterback that was as tough as nails and won many games by sheer force of will - because he had a good cast of weapons around him and a good OC who knew how to use all of them…
Lol. Love it.
This poster is bringing the entertainment.
One won’t win without the other.
Mayfield is the missing link…or so says Todd Bowles and Jason Licht.
A lot of moving parts are involved - if we had a couple more defensive weapons - it sure would help.
Only a few watch every week to just to catch a glimpse of the backup QB - and cross their fingers that he will miraculously start. Keep that hope alive!
Silly abounds.

yeah obviously. our over under was 6.5 wins this past year and we smashed expectations. this team is mid level talent and like i said before, most pundits will be picking Saints or Falcons to win the division in 2024. Our over/under may jump to 8.5 but the expectations will remain low unless we somehow get more talented and hit the draft out of the park.
i will think we are the favorites in the NFC South (but im a Buc Fan) but San Francisco will remain the class of the NFC.

Leftwich was a terrible order taker, not even an OC . . but the idea that Brady was bending to Leftwich's will is laughable.
Arians went out of his way to DENY any friction with Brady as a reason he retired. Bowles sat there and took that terrible offense, even as one of his most senior Asst Coaches spoke out.
NO ONE . . not a single person inside One Buc wanted to be blamed for the end of Brady, holding him back etc. . . and yet LEFTWICH . . . Leftwich . . was the boss of Brady? C'mon . . . LOL
Hes still the GOAT . . but almost every top player stays too long, slightly tarnishes their legacy. Its the norm
Yeah exactly. The thought of leftwich coaching brady.
then sentence alone makes it obvious. Would think Brady had a significant say in our play calling in his time here and especially in 2022 without Arians there to be a buffer for sanity
especially in 2022 without Arians there to be a buffer for sanity
exactly
Not a Kaufman disciple, but even he has to acknowledge the truth, eventually.
We are aging, but the organization is coaxing as much talent as is possible under the limitations of the cap and losses on some key (mostly defensive) losses. Getting Baker for a song this last season was as much a catalyst for that as that strong draft last year.
Trust Licht, Greenie, SpyTech and Bowles…kinda looks like they know what they’re doing.
the bulk of the o-line rebuild is interior, should be able to get that upgraded this draft, along with a complimentary RB to White..but upgrading the TE will be a bit more difficult.
All that depends on signing Baker, Evans, and Winfield…
…and there’s no way Lefty was shot calling the GOAT. Cuz, last I checked, Lefty’s still unemployed.

It may be easier to beat the 9rs than KC, THANK GOD we Live in the NFC and our only chance at Facing Reid/Mahomey is in the Postseason AND The TITLE game no Less; it gives us a Swashbuckling Buccaneer Chance to fk'em up. We WERENT SUPPOSED TO BEAT DA'RADAZ, Rich Gannon (another inconsistent JOURNEYMAN) was like the 2002 version of TOM Brady that Year... I'll take that chance anyday.
This team definitely isn't mid level talent. The offense is up there with the best amongst skill positions, a few tweaks to the OL and that's it.Personally, I don't have SB expectations for next year. Defensively the cupboard is bare for outside pass rushing which is important. Its holding them back from being an top 10 unit.
Brady not holding in there at the pocket allowing plays to develop likely contributed to the issues
Spent the last few days at the WMPO (what a finish to that tournament!), so admittedly, I’m catching up on this topic.
But, I want to make sure I’m getting this right.
Blayton, and now you, are basically claiming that the offense was Brady’s (scheme, sequencing, play calling, etc.)
So, if that’s the case, why would he design and call “long-developing” plays (constantly…might I add) if he was simply going to refuse to hold in the pocket?
And, if this were all true, why wouldn’t Lefty have found a job yet? Even at the college level.
I mean, according to the both of you, he wasn’t the one calling the plays. It wasn’t his offense.
It may be easier to beat the 9rs than KC, THANK GOD we Live in the NFC and our only chance at Facing Reid/Mahomey is in the Postseason AND The TITLE game no Less
We literally play them in this upcoming regular season.

we have one above average guy on the offensive line. (Trending towards a future HOF), three JAGs in the interior and jury out on Luke who played well this year. We are probably a top 15 offensive line who protects well but can’t run block
evans and Godwin are top 10 WR duo. Rest of team is JAGS. White has potential but he’s nothing special so far.
we are in the 10-15 range closer to 15 in skill position core. Who do you have ranked better than us in this top tier ranking of yours? Just want to see if I’m being too harsh on our Bucs
@badabing - I’ll take it!
Draft can improve defensive secondary, and O-line…2nd year guys will step up on defense.
here, I’ll lone you my glasses…
