I said people don't like Licht because of his record without Brady. You said "you mean his record with Winston". I assumed you were trying to blame Licht's disastrous pre-Brady resume on Winston but it's not just Winston. It was 4 different QBs and 3 different head coaches.
You're bringing up a bunch of players and going off on a different incoherent rant.
Licht had the first pick in the draft. He had many options and and failed horribly. He was bailed out by the stars aligning for us to sign Brady and it went well as anyone could imagine.
Licht is a turd. Brady took the stink off the turd and polished it. But Brady is gone. The clock struck midnight. Back to reality. Our quarterback is Baker fucking Mayfield.
lol
I remember reading those Chip Kelly rumors at the time for Mariota... but that's all it was, rumors.
I'd be curious to know where Mariota would be if Kelly was able to nab him?
Mariota is a system QB, and what better system for him...
Sigh... now he's just a career backup.
It's signing Brady and there's no close second. It's probably the best move in franchise history.
Tom Brady reportedly came to the Bucs because of the weapons (Licht) and Arians (Licht) and east coast (family). Arians came to the Bucs because of . . Licht . . . and because his favored staff was available and family.
I dont think Licht is some great GM in terms of drafting BUT it should be impossible to critique Licht's time with the Buccaneers without first acknowledging that the Super Bowl is pretty much all him
He's responsible for both Arians and Brady and he drafted most of the "weapons" that both saw on the Bucs roster when they decided to come here.
He also drafted a number of big flops.
LOL
Fair points. Great post
I believe first Arians came here to ‘salvage’ Winston because he worked with him as a youth. And the ‘QB Whisperer’ that was/is Arians was the last shot to get Winston’s career on the right trajectory before we cut bait.
I wish Arians had more time here as our coach. Between all the Winston and Brady drama it would’ve been nice to have him around longer. I think I that Arians will have a further reduced role this year? I hope he sticks around longer.
Some coaches are better in practice. Some are better on Sundays.
Arians was the former imo...
He was solid on Sundays but he struggled with basic clock management.
