I got fairly roasted on my last mock, and as much as I don’t want to admit it, most of you guys are right about not trading up for Chubb. I kind of doubt it will even end up an option, and I’m starting to think Nelson will be gone as well. What I am going to do is give us an extra 4th round pick. Between my first and 2nd round picks here, I think we could possibly trade down a couple picks in the first or a number of picks in the 2nd and still get the guy. I like a couple of the DE’s @Pepsi and @Pennywise pointed out in another thread a lot after taking a better look.
1. Derwin James SS FSU - Like a lot of guys from FSU recently, his best years there were his early years. You guys are right in saying his is an elite type talent like Chubb and Nelson.
2. Duke Ejiofor DE Wake Forest - I think he will be a riser after the combine, but hopefully not too much. He’s an underrated guy who can rush the passer.
3. Alex Cappa OT Humboldt State - As I said in the other post, I don’t think cupboard is as empty on our O-Line as a lot of fans do. If the Bucs can sign a guy in Free Agency for either center or RG, get JR Sweezy into a reserve role, then draft a guy who can be more consistent than Smith at LT, and allow Smith to kicking into LG, I think we would become a much, much better OL. Cappa has really quick feet as a LT.
4a. Olasunkanmi Adeniyi DE Toledo - Nice size and power with some speed. Between he and Ejiofor hopefully we can really upgrade our RDE position.
4b. Nathan Shepard DT Fort Hayes St - From the want to and violent hands he showed at the senior bowl, he could be a great answer as a NT early and could offer some pass rush.
5. Akrum Wadley RB Iowa - I’ll switch up the late round RB in this draft, but I still feel we need a power back from Free Agency, Gore or Blount, and a 3rd down type back late in the draft.
6. Eddy Pineiro K Florida - We need a kicker who can make it from 50+ and kickoff, even if we have to develop a guy.
