Just like Anthony Davis said, some players didn't respond to Coach Schiano's ways of coaching. How did Schiano help Davis, what did he do for him? ".....he didn't do sh!t" per Anthony Davis.I can't believe there are people on here defending Schiano on this. If any other team had gotten rid of Blount and drafted a RB in the 1st round to replace him, they would be ridiculed non-stop.Using Dominik as an excuse? The same guy that just got fired for incompetence? Right..
Wasn't what he wanted. Schiano wanted a 3 down back. That's not Blount.
Right, so you admit that his not being good wasn't why he was let go. It's because Schiano could not envision the value of a relief back that averages over 4.6 ypc. Now, to me, that's kinda an asset that's silly to blow off, Remember, there wasnt anything close to an either or scenario going on with these guys.

In all fairness, there are some dudes on here who would be praising Jon Gruden if he did it.See how he's maturing as a coach. He was willing to go with a younger player over an established veteran. He's learning what's up.
Yup.. We sure let a great one get away!!! Its not like his replacement wasnt top 3 in yards from scrimmage, finish top 5 in yards and made the pro bowl as rookie or anything like that. And didn't need a service to make sure he came to his job on time.
To be fair, when I posted Blount with coaches not named Schiano:538 carries 2560 yards 4.75 ypc 18tdBlount under Schiano:41 carries 151 yards 3.7 ypc 2 td'sI was comparing 4 years to one year and it made Greg look bad. Lets just compare his WORST year yardage wise with his year under Greg. Blount with coaches not named Schiano:153 carries 772 yards 5.0 ypc 7 td'sBlount under Schiano:41 carries 151 yards 3.7 ypc 2 td'sThere, that looks better for Schiano.

I never said he wasn't any good. You can't have a relief back that needs 25 carries to get to that 4.6 yards a carry average. Tinkle toes Blount isn't that change of pace guy that's going to make hay on limited carries. He'll break one eventually but the work up take a while sometimes and that's not what relief backs do.

Mike James was top 3 in yfs, finished top 5 in yards and made the pro bowl as a rookie and did it all while he was on injured reserves? I was going to tell Douggie to watch his back but screw that, Barry Sanders better watch his back, Mikey's coming!

In 153 carries this season ( less than 10 per game ) he managed 772 yards, 5.0 ypc and 7 TD's. How is that not what relief backs do again?

I meant Martin being Blount's replacement as the starter. Mike James isn't a bad replacement for Blount either tho. Better all around game.

Does that count the last two games where he was the primary back carrying the ball?

So, lets throw them out. Some guy aove posted his stats through 9 games last season,70 carries 312 yards 4.45 ypc 2 td'sAgain, 7.7 carries to average 4,45 ypc. You may say thats not 4,6 ypc but it's done in a heck of a lot less carries than 26 a game.

We could get that from Mike James, and have a guy who pass protects. We didn't lose anything special. That's my whole point.
Neither of the two midgets we have could hold Blount's jock strap. BOOM!!

Fumbling Blount wouldn't be able to hold his own jock strap. And I bet the two midgets will convert on more 3 and 1's than 250 lbs Blount ever has for us.

And that was in no way the point I was addressing. On your point, I feel it's waaay to early to assume Mike has that in him. Blount has done that for 5 seasons and not counting his Schiano year, his worst statistical season was 781 yds, 4.2 ypc 5 td;s. Fact is, barring one season he has been remarkably consistent. James has his work cut out for him to consistently perform at his level. I mean, as far as sticking a rose in manure and saying your sh1t doesn't stink, James is a good consolation prize but he's not in Blount's league yet. Hope he gets there. He's the Buccaneer now, not Blount.
