Da'Quan Bowers and Ricky Sapp weigh in the NFL options by Andrew Boardwine 2h ago Former Tigers and Bamberg natives Da’Quan Bowers and Ricky Sapp are both weighing in their options for the NFL.Both Da’Quan Bowers and Ricky Sapp were back in Bamberg, South Carolina helping out with a Youth Football Camp, when they were asked about their futures in the NFL. Both are considering multiple options at this point, but it looks like they will each be able to continue their professional careers somewhere this season.Bowers was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round in 2011 and has played in 50 games with the Bucs over that period of time. Last season, he recorded 21 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery. When asked about his current NFL options, here is what Da’Quan Bowers had to say:“I’m a free agent, I have a couple offers out there, but I’m just enjoying my summer,” he said. “I’ll probably make a decision about mid-July. “I’m just waiting it out and seeing what opportunities I have. Right now, it’s about training and preparing. I’ve got four offers at the moment. But I haven’t decided on any of those yet.”Ricky Sapp also has an opportunity to choose where he will play the next few seasons. Sapp, the former Tiger defensive end, spent three seasons with the New York Jets before playing his last two with the Houston Texans before being released by the Washington Redskins. Sapp had a solid collegiate career at Clemson and to still be playing in the NFL is a testament to the talent the Tigers have put out in the NFL.“I’m a free agent right now,” Sapp said. “I’ve got a few offers already, but I’m still weighing my options, enjoying my summer, working out hard and getting ready for the season.” “I’m sure I’ll work something out with a team soon,” Sapp said. “But I’m just being patient and working hard to be ready.“Right now, my options are wide open. The NFL is a job. One of the most important things I’ve learned about the league is that – once you are on that level – you have to eat, sleep and breathe it. The older guys in the league taught me that everything you do has to point towards football, or you won’t make it. I’m so glad I learned that so early in my career.”link
