"That was not a very fun year for the Buccaneers," said Brate when talking with Gronk about playing the 2022 season. "That year, like I think everyone got done with that year, and the building was like, ‘Alright, I’m done with football.’"
Bowles' predecessor went 31-18 (.633) as HC, along with being 5-1 in the playoffs and winning a Superbowl.
Todd Bowles is 30-25 (.545) as HC, with a 1-1 playoff record.
Actually, Todd is 1-3 in the playoffs.
You're correct, my mistake.

dude 2022 will be wiped from our memories. Such a disappointment given the success of 2020 and 2021 seasons. Sandwiched in between the rise of Baker in 2023, 2024 seasons. 2025 off to a good start as well.
dude 2022 will be wiped from our memories.
Amen
The 2022 team was a team that limped to its end and it was mostly dead before it even started because of the way Brady handled it. It was also the "one year too many" remnants of the Brady/Arians era.
The end for that team was a 31 -14 ass kicking by the Cowboys, with an offense that couldn't score a point in the 1st half. Brady throwing 66 passes because the team wasn't a team as much as a one dimensional project for the GOAT.
The 2023 team was a turn-around. Less talented and in transition, but BETTER than 2022 even with a journeyman QB. 2024 even further along and then the 2025 team now, decimated by inj, but clawing out wins. All hands on deck.
Thats was the point. The 2022 team NEVER had that kind of heart because teams assembled that way and under those circumstances do not. In 2022 Tristan Wirfs didn't want to get yelled at by Brady (lol). In 2025 he is a leader himself and would probably kill someone for Mayfield.
I think Bowles just needs a little bit of fire that he can add here and there, feel the heartbeat of the team in a way. Understand when you gotta wake their ass up, but he's doing what any successful person would do, find weaknesses and address them, reflecting on your own personal game.
I like the job he's been doing

I would have to assume this "transformational coach" improved his playoff record last season, no?

Can’t make it worse if you don’t make it in.
Next level thinking on Todd’s part.

I would have never guessed this transformational coach would have missed the playoffs in one of the shitiest divisions in football. That's on me.

Good call. It's easy to see why his leghumpers are so adamant.
Nope, Brokeback Mountain
The Tweedles typical response . . one of you dropped the rattle

Just to play Devil's Advocate. Transformations can be both bad and good. In the case of Bowles, it is bad.
But as for Bowles, it will be how this team responds to familiar test:
it's not like we haven't seen 3-1 starts by this same team/coach be squandered before by losing streaks the last 2 seasons only to end up with mediocre 9,10 win seasons
TEST 1 - Can they win a toss up game in prime time? THIS WEEK against Houston. YES
TEST 2- The next test would be week 3, can they win a game they ultimately should easily win and not have a let down game. YES but it was close . . maybe the first sign of problems?
TEST 3 -then, the next test would be weeks 4 through 7 where we face all tough opponents in Philly, Seattle, San Fran, and Detroit. Can we at least go 2-2 in that span or do we see another losing streak YES they went 2-2
TEST 4 - would be how we measure up against a team like Buffalo in Buffalo. YES/NO, came up short but were in it BUJT this was the beginning of the end
TEST 5 - and the final regular season test would be one we passed the last 2 years, can we win the games we should win in the final 6 games (ARZ, NO, ATL, CAR X2, MIA); at least 5-1 in that span but should be 6-0. NO . . . OUCH . . total collapse
this was a great post then and its great to look back at it now
