as the Glazers aren’t typically overly frugal
They are when they've put Manchester U in debt by over a billion dollars. What a fucking joke of a family
ManU is worth $6 billion ish
Have you read much about it?

yes and I know the story very well but even if you don't follow it the point I am making is right in the article you posted. This is it:
"The Glazer family can legitimately point to the fact they have significantly grown the value of the club over the past two decades.
Under the Glazers' two decades of full ownership, United's annual commercial revenues have risen more than fivefold - from £55m in 2006 to £303m in 2024."
so the Glazers increased the revenue FIVE FOLD but the debt you're discussing has grown 1.5 fold and that is WITH player acquisitions and WITHOUT a new stadium. So the Glazers are not running ManU into the ground. Far from it. They are growing it very successfully. They used debt to purchase it and recently debt to finance players (common) but the growth more than covers the debt.
If I bought a house for $1 million and put a $1 million mortgage on it to renovate it and it's worth $6 million now I didn't not run the house into the ground. I improved it. Dramatically

Meh you're overrating the growth massively when you compare it to its peers.
Man U also is 12 years removed from relevance compared to their storied past. All the early success the Glazers had was just riding the coattails of the prior regime.
I have a handful of friends that live and die premier league and Man U is essentially the cowboys.
I don't think anyone thinks Jones is running that franchise well but they've grown 13x the last 20 years

The Cowboys is the perfect analogy. They were the Lombardi era Packers. But, if you look at your own post you are equating the ManU brand to the biggest NFL brand and that growth has occurred WITHOUT the historic success on the field. That is my point. Real Madrid is the biggest sport team on the planet and it is ASSOCIATED with its incredible talent and trophies. ManU is the second biggest despite the lack of on field success, an "also ran" in the Prem League these days. Just sacked their manager.
But boy are you off on the Glazers. Not only did they turn ManU into a massive COMMERCIAL success (the conversation is about debt not trophies) the entire league has followed them. Since you like AI ask it to explain the "growth of the premier League since 2005." That is the Glazers at work. They bought MU is 20025, I think.
I will leave it with you from there only to say in closing that we exist in a world (the Red Board lol) where Bucs fans post that the Glazers are the "worst owners in all of sports" even though they have brought two Super Bowls and Super Bowl hosting stadium to a creamsicle nothing team. Fan criticism is not always rooted in reality.
Todd Bowles was made coach of this team, and remains coach of this team, entirely based on the color of his skin. This is an objective, permanent fact. No football reason exists
Harbaugh’s agent told Team Glazer that Harbaugh wanted to hire his own yes-man general manager wherever he lands. Team Glazer had no interest moving on from Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht.
However, the fact remains that the Bucs fired nearly all the coaching staff (offensive, defensive and special team coaches)…but they retained the head coach who assembled the staff.
It makes no sense.
Folks aren’t understanding why this is done and because it doesn’t make sense, and there is no communication, the team has left this open to speculation.
At this point, DEI is as legitimate a speculation as financial hijinks.

I love how the racism slowly and meticulously bleed out when you guys get angry.
Erhamgerd it isn't money it isn't continuity it isn't incompetence.
IT'S BECAUSE OF AFFIRMATIVE ACTION. It's DEI! It's CRT! It's socialism! It's replacement theory!

I dont even think that it is uncommon? Could be wrong, but what would be unusual about a HC firing an OC, for example, or a ST coordinator?
Frankly, I didn't think Bowles would do it. A number of the coaches on his defensive staff are guys that have been with him FOREVER but because if that they are pretty old

There is report today that I posted here that expands on the Harbaugh saga. Believe the report or dont, but if it is correct it paints a very clear NON-RACIST alternative.
1. Glazers unhappy with performance of team in 2025
2. Glazers explore Harbaugh
3. Glazers learn that Harbaugh = NO LICHT
4. Glazers greatly value LICHT so not going with Harbaugh
5. What is Plan B?
6. Licht and Arians CLEARLY believe in Bowles AS A COACH - Licht/Bowles extended together, Licht says Bowles did great job "with what he had," Bowles had 3 division champs, Arians etc etc etc
7. Licht and Arians very influential in OBP
8. Go with Bowles and Licht
the racism stuff is lazy
You can have your opinion, but you don’t get to call me a racist. Until the end of last season, and all of this season, I backed Bowles. You did not.At this point, DEI is as legitimate a speculation as financial hijinks.

Read the post again, it’s about the legit act of speculation. Because there are no answers and it makes no sense - all we are left with is speculation. Those who think it is wrong, or have personally experienced an impact to their lives or careers due to politically motivated policies. Those who adhere to the teams commitment to a publicly announced DEI policy have as much information on which to base an opinion, as those who think this is a financial pull-back. This team/organization caused all of this.
Some communication was clear, ie the DEI policy regarding aspects of how and where the hire and spend money. Some was due to a lack of communication.
You act like the team didn’t say that on some level - the organization makes decisions on who they hire and where they direct financial resources - according to skin color and financial stratification?
Don’t see what you want to see. I have said repeatedly I am not one of those people.
You tell me why we sucked on defense and we retained the architect of the defense. Whatever you answer, is based on your own speculation. Because you can’t prove it - it is no more or less - what anyone else thinks.
Buc fans are angry and in a communication vacuum. The Glazers have mishandled this debacle since it started unfolding when they allowed Liam Coen to exit the building.

Blah blah blah. I'm judging Bowles based on his performance and you're attributing his retention to skin color via owners that are massive Trump donors and supporters.
This isn't a Mark Cuban led team dude. The Glazers don't give two shits about DEI and anything they claim to care about is strictly to check a box or appease certain people.
But YOU have shown YOUR colors when YOU bring this stupid shit up. You're like a calmer version of "Dave". Same shit...
You can make a case for the report because the owners had no desire to fire Licht. At this point, DEI is as legitimate a speculation as financial hijinks.

But it’s still just heresy that, albeit it makes more sense than this being motivated by racism.
But, by not addressing it, and by not doing a great job of explaining how and where they apply the DEI policy within the organization, there are those who may have been negatively impacted by a corporate DEI policy they experienced.
I think it is a lazy take, but at this point we don’t have anything but the architect of arguably the worst defense in football, being retained to run it back, after the team fired nearly his entire staff.
My own personal belief is that it likely has more to do with their decision to commit to continuity. I think it is absolutely goofy - as I never saw Pittsburgh do anything like this with either Cower or Tomlin. Baltimore never did this with Harbaugh.
The goofiness of this decision, and the lack of communication being the notions out of the woodwork. Focusing on the few number of these is majoring in minors.
The issue is, there is more here than is being communicated and because the owners are firing the staff that the guy they’re keeping assembled, is pretty unprecedented. The fact that they’re doing this while trying to find a legit OC, causes me to think they will be about as successful as they have been historically. Every once in awhile it works, more often than not, it has not.
