And as for the package deal, "Best Gm" who has gone "low expectations" by extending Bowles
"Bowles and Licht have grown to have a remarkable amount of trust in each other, evidenced by Bowles signing off on wide receiver Emeka Egbuka as the team’s first-round pick despite his defense really needing to be addressed. Licht and Bowles then proceeded to select four defensive players – cornerbacks Benjamin Morrison and Jacob Parrish, outside linebacker David Walker and defensive lineman Elijah Roberts – with the next four picks.
"Bowles also had some positive discussions with Licht about improving the head coach’s game management decision-making, and that ultimately led to the hiring of Zach Beistline to help Bowles out. And the fact that Bowles has been a kingmaker of sorts when it comes to hiring offensive coordinators – with an assist from Licht, who sits in on those interviews – is also an amazing product of their teamwork.
The two hired Dave Canales to replace Byron Leftwich in 2022 and then hired Liam Coen to replace Canales in 2023 after he left to become the Panthers head coach. When lightning struck again and Coen left Tampa Bay after just one season to become the head coach in Jacksonville, both men agreed that pass game coordinator Josh Grizzard was ready and the right man for the job. Bowles and Licht agreed that continuity was key for the Bucs’ explosive offense."
and the key part that most seem discuont - whether the decision is ultimately proven right or wrong - is that the Glazers seem to have learned from the Lost Decade:
Continuity is also key for the entire Bucs franchise.
Keeping Bowles as head coach and Licht as the general manager for years to come is the kind of continuity the Glazers crave after having fired seven head coaches in their 30 years of owning the Buccaneers.
Look at what followed after firing Gruden
Recall how many posters (same, right?) recoiled at the idea that Licht is the driver of the culture and some even making the argument that Licht wasn't so good in his early days. Even Arians was subject to that claim. Here's SR APPLAUDING the Glazers
"Thankfully, the Glazers showed some patience and didn’t fire general manager Jason Licht, who is now working with his fourth head coach in Todd Bowles. Most NFL GMs get one or two head coaching hires before they are fired, too.
Smith hired Licht in 2014, and Licht ultimately fired Smith after the 2015 season. After promoting Koetter from offensive coordinator to head coach in 2016, Licht had to fire him after the 2018 campaign. In a Hail Mary attempt that likely saved his own job, Licht talked Bruce Arians out of retirement to come coach Tampa Bay in 2019. The Bucs won Super Bowl 55 in Arians’ second season in 2020."
they are happy with just making it to the playoffs where as we were happy with 2023 run but want to see progress
Credit where due. SR makes your point. He doesn't assign it to the owners, but he agrees, it seems
"It turns out 9-7 records are better than losing records. The Glazers learned that the hard way.
In fact, the Bucs had nine losing seasons between Morris’ first year as head coach in 2009 and Arians’ first year as the Bucs’ captain in 2019. The Glazers will be much more patient with Bowles as a result.
They really seem to value Bowles’ “leader of men” coaching style as much as his prowess as a defensive play-caller. There are no arrests of his players in Tampa Bay because of the high character roster he’s helped assemble, and the Bucs are a very respectable franchise with Bowles at the helm."

Here's whayt he says about the owners
"Winning NFC South titles is nice, but the Glazers want to win Super Bowls. And they firmly believe that Bowles can do it with the roster that he and Licht have helped craft."
The Red Board GMs would put that part in bold . . in CrAzy foNt. am i right? lol

Five posts in 15 minutes - in the same thread.
The string-posting lunatic is at it again.
Each one of them mocking your self-claimed football acumen lmao
is at it again.
Does this mean we have a bet? You don't need a $1000 for this one Biggs. You just need a brain.
Maybe they did this to avoid the bill bellechick chatter and not distract from team
ultimately Bowles had more leash than many of us thought.
The statue of him being built if we make playoffs again this year
Dan Campbell + Jared Goff is rah rah coach and stoic QB = regression the past couple of years.
Todd Bowles + Baker Mayfield = Stoic coach and rah rah QB = better each year.
It’s always funny when our fanbase thinks they have the answers. Enjoy this consistent run year after year and know we are setting ourselves up to be relevant for the foreseeable future.
Unlike a lot of owners of pro franchises, our owners want to win and stay out of the way of those who actually know the game. Only one team wins every year and last year it was a team that we keep in a damn box.

Todd Bowles + Baker Mayfield = Stoic coach and rah rah QB = better each year
Awful assessment

So would you rather have Baker and Bowles or Goff and Campbell??
While the NFL is a coaches and owners league and that is why it is great, it’s also a QB league. Belechick struggled without Brady. Mahomes finally got Reid over the finish line. Dungy became better with Manning. Allen has Sean McDermott looks competent with Allen as his QB.
I think Campbells act will wear thin with the absence of his coordinators. I'd rather have Bowles over Campbell. Bowles has shown the ability to transition to new coordinators and Campbell will have to prove that this year, and I'd take Baker over Goff as well.Dan Campbell + Jared Goff is rah rah coach and stoic QB = regression the past couple of years.

Statements like this and I'm wondering if you're the zodiac killer
Dan Campbell is overrated and too aggressive
Todd Bowles isn’t even rated and likely not even in the top 15; everyone giving his QBs and OCs credit for Bucs success under him which is not his expertise
Bucs should not have replaced Bowles just to replace Bowles like they did with gruden when they hired Raheem morris. Yikes. Some may have wanted a change from Bowles just for a change but I’ve become a fan of Bowles; that being said, the team needs to elevate its game for me to think this extension was warranted
