No explanation needed.
He wants out of Jersey.
Has outspoken interest in playing here.
Was essentially drafted by Todd Bowles.

So how do we do it?

There is no way we give up Mike Evans, Shaq Barrett, Brady, Gronk, or Lavonte.

There are 3 scenarios I see. Let me know which, if any, you would be interested in.

A - Least Likely - Trade JPP
* Pass rush is just too important to let someone like JPP or Shaq go. Especially having not retained Carl Nassib, and no real depth save for a 2nd year 5th rounder in Anthony Nelson. Yes, we get Jamal Adams, but we lose a dominant DLineman and a draft pick. I'd rather take my chances with Antoine Winfield and Jordan Whitehead.

PASS

B - Also Unlikely - Trade Donovan Smith
*Tristan Wirfs is the new LT, Joe Haeg is RT and we're crossing our fingers for old TB12. I can't see putting that much faith in Wirfs/Haeg - even if your of the mindset that Donovan sucks. I don't think he sucks but I do think he is tradeable due to cap hit and inconsistency. That said, even though the Jets could use/afford Donovan, and Jamal Adams would complete our defense - we can't take that risk of Brady getting hit all year. I trust Wirfs enough to replace Donovan. I just don't know if I trust Haeg with no depth behind him.

PASS

C - Possible - Trade Brate and Gholston
* We all love Brate. But we have too many cooks in the kitchen. Gronk, OJ, Auclair, Hudson, McElroy... Plus I believe the Jets could use a TE. Losing Gholston stings a bit more in terms of depth, but I'll take Jamal Adams over Will Gholston any day of the week. Patrick Oconner is ready to fill in.

DO IT!

Final Verdict:
Trade Brate, Gholston, and a 2021 2nd foe Jamal Adams.
