Cosell was excellent. Great get guys! So knowledgeable (of course I’m a little biased because he echoed so many of my thoughts). Could you get him back on another episode after the draft? He would be great to breakdown our actual draft picks too.

Sounds like he may be a little concerned about our outside corners; interior oline; and feels we shouldn’t draft a receiver anytime early. Great discussion and insight on Coen’s and Rams offense, and how Godwin should get a ton of targets.

Always had a lot of respect for Greg Cosell's football sense.  Probably not that popular with the younger crowd, as he isn't flashy at all, doesn't yell and scream, doesn't just parrot the most popular narratives, etc.  He just pretty much tells it like it is, and he has a deeper understanding of the game, the teams and the players than most newer fans give him credit for.

Some reason I can't edit my previous post, so I have to put up another one.  Sorry about that.

Also liked his (brief) analysis of Baker, i.e., 'he's a rhythm/timing passer, needs the depth of pocket because he's a step thrower,' etc.

Also glad to see that he and I are in agreement about McConkey.  Ladd's route running is excellent; would love to see him as a Chief, but I doubt KC will have that opportunity.

@feelindangerous06 - yes. He definitely knows his stuff. And I like that he doesn’t do lists or mock drafts, because he says there are so many different factors.

Yeah, I heard him say once that lists (top-10 lists for example) are mostly just a 'fad' that mainstream sports media has jumped on because their viewers have very short the attention spans.  And those kinds of lists fit great on your phone's screen.

At one point he referenced the QB lists every year.  Basically, he said that outside of the top two QBs (Mahomes/Allen), who was really elite?  And his comparison was the top-5 QBs from just a few years ago: Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Roethlisberger.  Those guys were elite, not because of their athleticism, but because of their mastery of the game, according to Cosell.  Of the top QBs today, only Mahomes and Rodgers seem to have reached that level of proficiency between the ears and on the field in real time.  The rest of them, according to Cosell, were still in various stages of development and not yet really elite in the level of play.

I tend to agree, which is why I cringe whenever one of these guys gets paid $40 million+/yr, because most of them aren't worth their contracts from Day 1.

I enjoyed Cosell's insight as well. What he said about Baker needing good interior line protection makes sense...Bucs really need to walk away from this year's draft with a day-one, plug-n-play upgrade at center and/or guard.
