True to his reputation, Canales the "QB Whisperer" BENCHED Young and then brought him back in a few week later and he's performing. They lost to the Chiefs today by a last second field goal. Asked about if Young would be the starter next week, Canales said "absolutely."
Canales went on . .
“I mean, yeah, I don’t have to make any statements. He’s makin’ it for himself,” Canales replied. “He’s continued to show us the progress we’re lookin’ for, bringing our skill players to life.”
Not going to be an easy game
Bucs only -6.5 atm.
i expect it to be closer to 10 by Sunday.

Yep definitely going to be tough
they all are though and even more so when you need the W
Kancey/Vea are going to have to push the pocket because that will rattle Young and throw off his timing. The edges like Diaby will have to hold contain to keep Young from scrambling.
Bucs got the same treatment by Mahomes at the end of the game. You have to give credit to the Panthers, and they won't be rolling over for the Bucs either.
Off topic but I wanted to see if anyone is looking to sell two tickets to Raiders game. From Atlanta, looking to take my son and will be my first regular season game at Ray Jay. Thanks!
The fact remains it's been two months since they beat the Lions and the Eagles - TWO MONTHS! Since then they have two wins against pitiful melt-down teams- the Saints and Giants.
Obviously the Panthers are playing with determination that isn't related to the playoff situation. They are trying to build something, and they will be giving the Bucs everything they've got. They clearly are not in tank mode.
If the Bucs can't beat a non-tanking team right now then this team will be in the same basket as the 2022 team which underperformed. That was Bowles first season. There were all kinds of excuses that year. This year the excuses aren't going to fly. Sure there were cap issues and injury issues, but we have been in games. We just didn't win them in the end. And that's what you need from any head coach.
The Bucs should beat the Panthers. No doubt this will be a hard fought game the Bucs should win. I don't care if they win by one point on this one. I'll give the Bucs credit for winning. But if they lose then it's totally on Bowles - the buck stops here. Just win.

Agree with much of your post, but just highlighting the double standard, maybe unintentional in YOUR post.
In most cases the double standard around Bowles is because posters are advocating a position (eg Bowles is bad) and its easier when it black/white. So, yesterday with a win theres quite a bit of "that team is tanking" or credit going to Coen, but the loss would have been "totally on Bowles." Or to use your earlier example, Bowles is to BLAME for the 49ers loss and the Chiefs loss, but not credited for having a depleted team compete like that.
I AM NOT SAYING ONE IS RIGHT OR WRONG, just saying that the lens is whatever reconciles with the poster's own pre-existing point of view and the problem is that nothing is black/white. Bowles is a GOOD coach for not losing the team, having them compete against superior talent even when depleted, but then also a BAD coach for conservative play calling (even when its right) or clock management and the overall disappoint of fans (whose expectations were probably out of whack to begin).
last year when the Bucs succeeded expectations those who are in the "Bowles is bad" camp attributed it to . . . Canales.
Just the way the mind works
Every coach -- even Belichek - is a mixture of good and bad.

Some prefer to fight over who should or should t be the HC.
I am ok with watching what happens for the balance of the season, and giving additional data to the decision makers as to how best to move forward. If we don’t finish this season well, then the case can be made for a change to Coen.
However, if we do finish well, and the current HC gets access to defensive picks that can land better talent at those critical spots we knew would be a problem at the beginning of the season. Then perhaps the move is to elevate Coen to co-head coach and allow Bowles to transition. To me, that’s the devil-known scenario. I’m more comfortable with this one.
Or, if we don’t finish well, it could just be an immediate transition. In which case, we know that Coen is a great OC, but we don’t know how a one NFL season OC will do as a head coach. That’s the devil-unknown scenario - it’s one I’ve seen repetitively and has less chance to be successful.
None of this means I’m a keep-Bowles-at-all-costs fan. It means I’m patient, and that’s a much better position for the franchise as a whole.
Schedule makers didn't do us any favors this year.
We got all the good teams early and all the "nothing to lose" teams late.
Not fun.
What I'm saying is that Bowles in some ways is a good coach. The players like him and won't quit on him, but he's not finding ways to win big games and that's the bottom line. We've lost five in a row to good teams - Atlanta twice, Baltimore, KC and SF. We were in those games except Baltimore. He didn't pull Godwin. He didn't go for two. Those decisions could have ended up differently ... but they didn't. They ended up being wrong and Bowles has to be accountable for that.I don't care if they win by one point on this one. I'll give the Bucs credit for winning. But if they lose then it's totally on Bowles - the buck stops here. Just win.

This game against Carolina is another big game, bigger than we thought it was going to be at the start of the season. And it's going to be close, within one score IMO. That's not an earthshaking prediction, a spread of 14 points, but it's not going to be the kind of game where one team is blowing out the other and they come up with a few points at the end to make it close. I think it's going to be a close one the whole way. And which coach will make the right decisions to win this game? For Bowles sake he better not let Canales get the better of him.
