Browns, in need of QB, could impact Bucs’ draft plans By Roy Cummings | Tribune Staff Published: February 4, 2015 The Browns could probably get Mike Glennon for a third, fourth- or fifth-round draft pick, and he would automatically fill a need in Cleveland. THE ASSOCIATED PRESS TAMPA — Brian Hoyer is on his way to the free-agent market. Johnny Manziel is in rehab. Add it all up and the Cleveland Browns are a team seemingly in need of a quarterback. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a team seemingly ready to give one up. The decision to sit Mike Glennon for all but a few games last year has many believing the Bucs are ready to move him in a trade this offseason, and the Browns could emerge as a potential trade partner. Though they might be better served by trying to work a deal with the Eagles for the more experienced Nick Foles, the Browns would have good reason to make Glennon a target as well. Given his 19 games of experience and backup status, the Browns could probably get him for a third, fourth- or fifth-round draft pick, and he would automatically fill a need in Cleveland. At the very least, he would give them a capable backup with some upside. Given a chance, he might even prove to be a capable starter, which is something the Browns desperately need. That’s why the Browns may also try to make a play for the first overall pick in the draft. And they may have the ammunition necessary to make that deal work. The Browns hold the 12th and 19th overall picks. That could prove to be very attractive to a Bucs team in need of more than a quarterback and looking to build through the draft. As the draft draws closer, it’s worth keeping an eye on the Browns as well as Hoyer and Manziel. Where Hoyer winds up and how Manziel does coming out of rehab could eventually impact the Bucs.
