Are they a laughing stock ? Because Schiano is the guy to fix laughing stocks.
Well he did fix this one. Two years ago we couldn't hire a coach and this time around we hired one of the top choices in days.
I disagree. If Lovie had been available 2012, he would have come here. He's got history here. He said himself they still have a house here and consider Tampa home. If Lovie hadn't come here now, I'm not so sure we wouldn't be looking just as pitiful as the Lions and Browns. Between the Freeman debacle and the MSRA outbreak, along with Tynes wife, attacking the kneel down, fire Schiano billboards, hazmat teams cleaning the locker room after we visit, a coach that refers to himself in the 3rd person, and all the jokes from the national media....we were the laughing stock of the NFL for most of 2013. Combine all that with an 11-21 record...and I fail to see what Rutgers fixed.

He got rid of that boat anchor at QB... I'll give him props all of my life for that one.
Why do you guys care? Schiano is gone. Why do you care if Cleveland gets him or not? In fact shouldn't you be happy another team gets a bad coach?
Today must be your first day on the internet. Welcome!
Seriously, why do you care?
For starters, if he gets another job, we dont have to pay him.

He actually did many things, he wasn't a good coach, but JDub doesn't know anything other than to oversell his points. The team was an absolute mess at the end of the Morris era. Schiano cleared out a bunch of bad guys and then was here when we brought in Martin and David and Barron etc. When a GM failed to get a TE, it was a Schiano-player who stepped in. When Martin went down, another Schiano player played a role in the RB position. Another Schiano player was a WR when Williams went down etc. When a GM and Owner apparently refused to move on from Free, Schiano drafted a QB who won our only games for us this season. Schiano was not responsible for the "Freeman debacle," in fact he actually handled it with class. Schiano was not responsible for MRSA or hazmat teams. It is one thing to say Schiano was not a good NFL coach . . its another to pin a bunch of nonsense on him

I honestly think Lovie's availability THIS off-season hastened Schiano's departure this year. With all the BS circulating the team this past season that was NOT of Schiano's doing, I thought Schiano would get another year from the Glazers, whether we fans think he deserved it or not. The Glazers knew they had a golden opportunity THIS year to land an NFL-proven quality HC they already knew and liked. A similar opportunity might not be there in 2015...
He got rid of the boat anchor as well as other players that were cancers in that locker room, you know the ones that layed down and quit in 2011. This team stayed together quite nicely in the face of "the Freeman debacle" (Freeman was the debacle) and MRSA neither of which schiano had control over. The team was in much better shape after 2013 than after 2011. The dirty work of cleaning up the place has been done. If we won more games, then schiano would still be here. We didn't, so he's not. 2011 we were turned down by a college coach. 2013, one of the most sought after coaches came here in days. Fact.

Thankfully we finished with a better record than that awful 2011 team. Oh wait....

Hello Joel or is it Brian?

Thankfully we fired the babysitter after 2011 and hired a coach that had no problem disciplining players, recognized talent, valued structure, and had no problem cutting ties with the cancers that were in that locker room. Now we have a desirable situation that a highly qualified coach wants and can work with.
To each their own. I see Schiano as a big joke that was a complete failure. We were better due to the fact he was actually allowed to spend money in FA. We brought in some veteran leadership in VJax, Revis, and Goldson....otherwise this team would have folded up like a lawn chair, same as 2011.

Schiano started out 6-4. Then won 5 out of the next 22 he coached. Seems things were best as soon as he got the job.
Dude finished 5-17 and people wanna make excuses for him. He was worse than Rah. So so so happy he is gone.
The 2 major differences between Rutgers and Rah were leadership style and free agent signings...other than that they were both epic fails. Time to move forward....

Although I doubt most of LaCanfora's reporting, he did report that the team checked with Cowher in November. With a terrible start and with all that happened, I wouldn't doubt at all that they looked at what was available and Lovie being available probably played a big part.
