The NFL trade deadline is quickly approaching. Last year, players like Golden Tate, Amari Cooper and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix were all moved hours before the closing bell.

This year, the deadline is October 29th, coming after the Buccaneers week eight matchup against the Titans. Should Jason Licht be selling assets to build for next year, or buying players to make a late playoff push?

The answer is simple.

If Tampa Bay beats the Titans to move to 3-4, Licht should be making calls to buy. If the Buccaneers lose and fall to 2-5, all sights will be set on 2020.

So who could the Bucs be looking to buy? Yesterday, I wrote about how Licht should be looking to acquire cornerback Xavien Howard. The Dolphins are obviously tanking, and given a small knee injury, the Buccaneers may be able to get him on the cheap.

Tampa Bay also needs offensive line help, and tackle Trent Williams is still available. He might be difficult to fit in the cap, but the team will have a projected $83 million in space next season.

Both of these moves would address the biggest weaknesses on the team, and help the Buccaneers contend for a playoff spot.

With that being said, who should Tampa Bay trade if they fall to 2-5? I think besides a few core players, anyone if fair game for the right price.

For example, if a team offers a fourth round pick for Vernon Hargreaves, you accept. Let him go before you get no compensation in the offseason. Heck, deal Peyton Barber for a 5th, just make as many moves as possible for the 2020 draft.
