We live and died by them...and last night we died because we only put up a pathetic 20 points, not to mention the execution of those 2 snaps....good lord.
Unfortunately, this defense played about as well as it could last night and then the offense did NOT produce when it needed to. Drop on the first drive (by a ROOKIE), untimely turnovers (the fumble right after the D made a huge stop) by same ROOKIE, and penalties and a bad snap from . . a ROOKIE
Once Dean went down (like he always does) it was basically over. McLaurin on Hayes for an easy 4th down TD. In the break before the last drive (the offense only gets a FG after being 2nd and 1 at the 12), Bowles called the DBs over and had a talk with them. Watch how many times Hayes is defending.
Defense has way more problems than Hayes, but only as good as your weakest link when its crunch time.
Bowles or no Bowles there are some defensive PERSONNEL changes coming
We were carried by the offense this year. We live and died by them
And, with the season on the line, 4th and short in insane plus territory; your boy decided to live and die by the defense that didn’t force a single punt all night. Chance to take a potential kill shot, and he pussed out for the umpteenth time this season.
Yet (and not surprisingly) here you are deepthroating mediocrity with glee (build a statue, give him an extension, etc).

Oh are you referring when Barton's remaining brain cell early snapped the ball and we got negative yardage....you were suggesting we dont tie it up there?
yeah let's go for it there lol
yeah let's go for it there lol
The fucking stats/odds/analytics say you go for it there.
But, I mean, I’m sure the defense was going to finally force their 1st punt of the night on Washington’s final drive.
🤡🤡🤡

Yep.
And, there needs to be an infusion of new assistants on the defensive side of the ball.

Agreed. I know SR has been saying this all season.

Problem is, Bowles is an extreme loyalist to “his guys”. Both players and coaches.
Something is about to give.

There's no way they are going for it there after TWO negative plays and a chance to tie with almost 5 minutes left.
The offense choked. That was the chance. First, I have NO IDEA why Mayfield chooses to NOT hand the ball to Bucky on 2nd and 1. Its like he thinks hes got a better chance ? with Bucky as a lead blocker? Second, the rookie snap . . . ugh
Not sure where to put these thoughts, but I guess I'll throw them in here after our last game of the season.
Bucs winning 10 games surpassed my expectations. What a pleasant surprise Coen, Bucky and the rest of the OL play was this year. I think everyone knew our lack of pass rush was going to be our biggest demise. Love Yaya but he isn't a #1 edge guy, Braswell hasn't shown much and Tryon is a dead man walking.
The way we lost hurts but most of us already accepted that Bowles is not a SB winning head coach material. The signs have been there since 2021 with his clock management and last night we seen it first hand. Baker throwing for 40 TD's this year was amazing and not many seen coming. He outplayed his contract and will give him his due for executing the offense well. Where he has a history of struggling though - 16 INTS and 13 fumbles on the year is pretty bad. That does not scream super bowl winning QB to me, which most of us already knew. He's always struggled taking care of the ball since entering the league. He isn't Jameis Winston bad but the guy is turnover prone and it costs us big time. Especially when our defense sucks already. I'm enjoying the ride as I know what's to come outcome wise with this HC/QB pairing. Fun team, look forward to the changes made to get better defensively. Unless a Myles Garrett/Crosby walks through that door, we won't be seeing the playoff game in Feb.

agreed again. Will be interesting to see it play out.
This was Licht last night, I guess
"“It’s a good time to be a Buc,” Licht said. “We’re doing a lot of great things, the entire organization. A lot of stability has helped. Obviously, great players, great coaching. So it’s an exciting time.”
and the is the PR draft profiue this morning listing positions of need:
Inside LB
Outside LB
Safety
CB
DT
WR
so, basically an ENTIRE defense lol
I agree about Barton struggling a bit last night, but situationally - offense has converted on 4th numerous times and the defense was NOT going to stop/slow down Daniels… put it on the ONE unit that had been coming through all season. We were carried by the offense this year. We live and died by them

get the TD and we make it harder - miss the conversion and lose sooner. THAT scenario was the only option, looks like Bowles lost confidence in the offense.

I totally get that BUT if you think the defense is "NOT going to stop/slow down Daniels" then a failed 4th down conversion is actually the end of the game whereas kick the FG and anything can happen
In fact, if you watch the next series again. They allow a drop off to McLaurin for 5 (success), stuff the run for -1 (success) so 3rd and 6
3rd and 6.
Bowles makes the WRONG call, in my view.
3rd and 6 we put 7 guys at the line but then only rush 3. Watch Nelson and our back up LB. They are just standing together to cut off a shallow cross or dump that was never coming.
and we still almost get there with 3 but we do not and Daniels throws a great pass before the WR breaks
But a stop there and we get the ball right back
NOW I TYPE ALL THAT ABOUT THE FG CHOICE, but myself . . watching the game live . . I said to the person next to me that the Bucs would lose because it was their worst scenario . . .
Trying to stop WAS from getting in FG range and unlikely to get the ball back
So, I totally get where you're coming from

only a few ass clowns expecting different.

Licht makes those comments and still some expecting Bowles to get fired
like i said, the dudes closer to having a statue built, maybe even have his opening 3rd quarter comments on it!
i'm all for replacing Bowles but let's not blow our loads and think it's Coen just yet. Offense choked last night in a big game. It's learning experience.
Belichick has shown that without talent, dudes a losing coach
Tomlin has shown that without talent, i can get you 9 wins but without a QB, we are losing first round
The team lacked talent on defense because there was only so much money to go around. Sure they missed on a few in the draft, but that dead cap space is what is saving Bowles job. Bucs have played with house money these last 2 years. Next year, the pressure will be on Bowles because i expect Bowles to land a big free agency defender, spend top picks on defense.
Bucs make playoffs, and lose in first round next year, Bowles is not the coach in 2026....but you are wishful thinking if you think Bowles is out this year. I could be wrong, maybe Tomlin or Bill B become available and Bucs make a splash...but it wouldnt be for Coen.
If anything, and maybe it's bittersweet benefit, but Coen just likely lost any real head coaching opportunities with last nights performance. He'll get the Jaguars interview but they likely shoot for a bigger name.
