Drafting Devin White over Josh Allen set this defense back. We'd probably be a top 10 unit had they used common sense.
Thats the thing about drafting, a miss on a PREMIUM pick has a much bigger impact than just the one missed position because the team then drafts to try to cover for the failure.
Yesterday, we gave up a touchdown late because JJ Russell lost his man. JJ Russell is the FOURTH back up to Devin White. But we also lacked pressure up front and thats partly because the team reached for JTS and Hall . . .maybe not if they draft Allen.
That said, the same FO used premium picks ON OFFENSE to correctly draft Evans, Wirfs, Barton, Mauch, Goedeke and really hit on guys like Godwin and Irving.

The point was that ONE reason the defense really sucks is that the team really didn't do much in the offseason to improve it, especially not when you compare it to the build up to the Super Bowl.

And the dishonest "nitwit" at that because the Panthers benched Young and then he came back. Once he became the starter again, the offense put up 14 against the Broncos (we put up 7?) and then 20, 23 and 27 the week before against the Chiefs.

Just have to clean up a “few communication issues”. I mean, it’s only been 6 years. These things take time.
Different QB since coming back from being benched - as evidenced by their competitive play vs the Chief's (albeit a very small sample size). Good defense, improving offense, not to mention how well Canales knows Bowles defense. Carolina looks to be finding their way.the Panthers did score just 23 points.
