Bowles also single handedly lost both games to Atlanta
Not sure I put those on Bowles but I think those losses kind of sealed the Bucs’ fate.
Hope to be wrong
also agree on Winfield
Look at Kirk Cousin in any other game. He roasted Bowles in both. You can throw the Chiefs game in there too but I'm more willing to give him a break on that one.
Yes, the Cousins stats vs the Bucs are damning:
Season 13 games 3,396 yds 261 yds/game 17 TDs 15 INTs
Others 11 games 2,611 yds 237 yds/game 9 TDs 14 INTs
vs Bucs 2 games 785 yds 392 yds/game 8 TDs 1 INT
The Bowles haters are seeing ghosts out there…
Just enjoy the show, for Bucs fans, (historically) it doesn’t happen often.
I guess it isn’t shocking how some Bucs fans have become so used to winning seasons they think they can just demonstrate how statistically poorly the defense is doing with all our top defenders playing - that it’s clearly a poor scheme issue - and we’ll all just agree that it’s Bowles fault?
Fantasy Football has made everyone a GM all of the sudden.
Personally, I like that we’ve been competitive through 13 games and that we can enjoy watching this team scratch their way to the top of the NFCS, again. Even though our defense has been consistently playing with backups & practice squad talent, we’re ready to ditch the guy who all of the players seem to be playing their hearts out for.
I guess it is the natural progression around here, used to see it when the starting QB was going through hard times…our favorite player was the backup.
But then again, I’ve felt since last year that the defense was getting older and would be a problem this season - and with the cap constraints and focus on rebuilding the offense - the defense took a back seat. That meant the team was a year away from legitimately competing for a Super Bowl.

I was reacting to the "single handedly"
The first game Cousins puts up 500 or so on us so yes they had their way with Bowles defense. Totally get that part.
BUT in the game the Bucs are still poised to win and the OFFENSE CHOKES . . a couple times, right?
The Falcons MISS a field goal and we get the ball with less than 4 minutes. Its time for the "4 minute offense" to run it out BUT Irving fumbles (FIRST CHOKE)
Thats okay though because the defense holds the Falcons to 4th and 15 and LVD gets a 4th down pic and its game over at the Falcons 25.
Down the ball 3 times and kick a field goal and its a 6 point lead
EXCEPT the offense goes backwards about 20 yards. (SECOND CHOKE)
Almost impossible, but if the offense just does its basic job game over. Maybe the falcons drive for a TD but they ran out of time at a 52 yard field goal so probably not.
Ultimately the D does not hold so yes on Bowles defense, but just not "single handedly." Definitely the story of that game is Bowles defense inability to even come close to stopping Cousins, but they still win if the offense just downs the ball 3 times. Two offensive ROOKIE mistakes instead.
I sure seem to recall some pretty outspoken, Bowles hating BUT WHITE LOVING posters here who put that loss on Bucky (fumble) . .but not our Center (holding)
LMAO
Barton had his worst game of the season. Bucky def had the costly fumble but tbf to him and White, Bates is great at the punch out. And yeah the offense went ultra conservative.
But the defense gave up the FG with almost no time left then immediately gave up the score in OT.
Just had to make a play...
The yardage given up because of soft coverage/delayed blitz was nuts and awful strategy.

I had a feeling it was lost once we punted, but then once they tied and going to OT we were definitely cooked. So, to your point the defense could've still held again, twice
Bowles with the ONE linebacker defense
"“Smoke and mirrors [laughs], smoke and mirrors,” Bowles smiled. “We have a couple packages that were kind of unorthodox that we’ve been practicing. The safeties do a good job filling in at linebacker.”
Coach speak
“The health,” Arians said as he let out an audible sigh. “Right now the secondary — we’ve got to get some guys healthy to play defense.
“Todd is so hamstrung on what he can do, defensively. He loves pressure. He loves man-to-man but he doesn’t play man anymore because he doesn’t have any corners.
“Now with Antoine [Winfield] hurt, hopefully we get him back.”
But the defense gave up the FG with almost no time left then immediately gave up the score in OT.
Yup, and if the defense “just does its basic job”, game over.
Offense averaged 28 points per game in the series (one game without Evans or Godwin, thanks to our dipshit HC) and the defense gave up an average of 33.5 points per game.
Smh…
Buccaneers to sign LB Deion Jones to practice squad
Bowles must have totally cleaned out every practice squader and training camp fodder LB who ever set foot in One Buc place.Buccaneers to sign LB Deion Jones to practice squad
Dude I don't even care I'm down. It can't get any worse

Youre getting called up for the next game. West coast! Starting DB!
I think our 2nd highest contract is Dean. There’s a great video online of Evans screaming at him from the sideline after he gives up the softest 1st down late in the game.
It would be cool to hear what Evans said to Dean.
