Mike Evans getting open doesn't automatically mean he's being schemed open.

But you knew that...

It's the same thing I said with Lefty. The talent is finding a way in spite of the play calling.

Luckily Canales is much better than Lefty...

And you and I both have been huge Evans fans... because he's elite and criminally underrated.

Uhh...do you think Evans is just doin' his own thang out there, or what? He's running the routes the offense is calling, and the routes are getting him open. You think Canales is doing a poor job, yet the proof in the pudding is guys are open, often wide, consistently. He's getting guys in space to make plays, but the QB is failing to get it there consistently. This isn't rocket science, and some of us have decades of football watching to understand these concepts. Godwin gets open, sometimes only with leverage, on a pretty frequent basis as well. But because he usually has a guy near him, Baker tends to be hesitant to throw it to him. Why he fails to throw to some of the more wide open targets is beyond me, and I'm just tired of it. Time to see what the kid has and move on from the Baker experiment. He'll never consistently produce enough points to win.

It's always both. Evans running routes and getting open, Canales putting him in position to be successful.

And I didn't say "Canales is doing a poor job". His greatest strength has been his route concepts... but I'm critical of WHEN he runs those routes and the players on the field running those routes (at times).

I'm also critical of his run concepts, and situational play calling...

Also Evans is in a contract year so don't forget that.

I'm tired of a lot of things with this offense... Baker has left points on the field but also dealt with a ton of drops in big moments... many of which by Evans sadly.

Trying to pin this all on Baker is so FUCKING HILARIOUS to me, even with all his limitations

I think we can all agree he is the #1 issue

No argument here.

Canales says he will never get 15 looks in this offense.

Really?

Well...no shit.

Reason being there's LITERALLY NO RECEIVER IN THE NFL that consistently gets 15 targets per game.

2023 - Keenan Allen: 11.3 TPG

2022 - Justin Jefferson: 10.8 TPG

2021 - Cooper Kupp: 11.2 TPG

2022 - Stefon Diggs: 10.4 TPG

And all this does is reinforce the fact that he should get 10 targets per game.

Seemingly with every post, you display a misunderstanding of how these things work. Expecting a WR to get 15 targets a game and blaming OC for who the QB targets (on multiple occasions) only reinforces that.

Do you know what a hyperbole is? 15 is the high end of the volume he should see based on game script.

Like I said earlier, I'd like to see his FLOOR around 10 and him being top 5 in targets per game in the league.

For as big of a clown as Stroud is, the quote in the article from Canales is of course a hyperbole since nobody gets 15 a game.

I swear to God you have "ass burgers".

Hyperbole is what you’ve been doing, eh? Interesting spin. If you mean that as in a lot your analysis, especially in-game, hasn’t been meant to be taken seriously, I’ll agree.

3rd and 10 awful route tree and awful decision by Baker.

Starting to feel like Canales and Baker are meant for each other.

Run a rub or crossers, Dave.

What do you think Godwin & Palmer we’re running?

Can I have the hyperbole explained to me in this post? “Dave” had two crossing patterns (both of which were open) on this play while Mayfield “targeted” the guy who was covered.

Mayfield targeting the wrong receiver is a common occurrence this season.

Canales said 15... I said 15 high end, and floor of 10 is what I want to see. Do you think Canales was being literal with 15 targets, or do you think it was an exaggeration?

Using a hyperbole is like saying Rand Paul was right next to the active shooter and not knowing how big a baseball field is.

Re crossers: I'd need to see the play again but from memory they were flat/digs... definitely not rubs. Maybe you're right on crossers. Def Baker making the wrong read.

Things Biggs selectively looked over: (his joker-like calling card)

- graphic on Baker drops

- Canales quote via Stroud article

- Mike Evans getting 10 targets a game

All you do is cherry pick... it's how you manage to convince yourself you're undefeated on the internet.

Forest for the trees...

Apparently Baker's overall dropped pass rate is just under 4% while his bad throw percentage is just under 16%. Pretty sure the bad pass rate is far worse. At the end of the day, he's not the answer.

It must be getting bad when you’re having to regurgitate the loon’s nonsense in a rebuttal. You’re supposed to be better than that, but alas.

Shameful.

There's that calling card again.

It's ok to admit you're wrong. It's the internet. Not gonna affect your life in a meaningful way.

thats what makes it’s so funny. Buggsy can’t stomach admitting his meaningless mistake and yet he’s calling someone else a loon.

Lol

Even funnier when you recall that OF COURSE he was calling everyone else stupid before Rand Paul blew him up

”only a idiot would not know where a batting cage is located”

literally
