id still pass on hooker. We don’t know what we have with trask or mayfield. Why add a third? Plus hookers only great tape came from an offense that was nothing like ours? How was his VT tape?Hooker in the 3rd, yes.
Earlier? Fuck no
Phillips out of Utah would be a great 2nd round pick.
We need to consider drafting a LB in thr 2nd or 3rd round to replace White and David.
So ideally we go
Rd1 - OT or the Georgia DT
Rd2 - Phillips, BPA, LB
Rd3 - Hooker, BPA, LB
Rd4 - WR, LB, BPA
Rd5-rd7 - BPA, special teams contributors (I usually like CBs and safeties at this stage)
I agree we need a future ILB (2?) and a slot DB. But do we have enough picks?
I agree build the trenches. Unless, Bijan Robinson is there at 19. You take superstars over needs.
@donkey_hunter says who, thats baloney...dont take a player that touches the ball more than anyone besides the qb. I agree at 19 he is too good to pass up if the premium Off tackles are off the board. I just dont see another quality enuff player at 19 if he is there. we still dont know how good R white can be,, i like him also but he has 1 game of over 100 yards . I think the new smart trend is to have 2 quality rbs in the backfield and Vaughn as 3rd back. Not too high on chase edmunds he was given a gold ticket to be#1 rb in miami explosive offense and couldnt beat out average guys.

@buckandear don’t think it’s baloney, it’s just thinking who you want on your roster for a second contract.
how do we decide which OT are the premium ones? Where’s the cutoff?
Drafting a RB makes zero sense even if you ignore all the data that DH is referring to.
We already invested two 3rd round picks into Vaughn and White. And we signed Chase Edmonds.
Our backfield is plenty serviceable. It doesn't matter who you are as a RB if you're getting tackled in the backfield.
Stack the line on both sides. Give our mediocre qbs time, give our rbs lanes, and let their value increase as a function of a well built line.
Re: Hooker. I'm not hell bent on him. He will go before our 3rd round pick anyway. What I'm saying is if he IS there in the 3rd, I'm fine with the pick from a value perspective.
I want trenches, slot corner, LB as positions of need. Maybe safety too for value.
I want to AVOID: TE, RB, boundary CB (unless Gonzalez falls to us), kicker, punter, WR.
1. RBs get hurt often and have short careers.
2. Their success is dependent on their blocking.
3. If you build a great line you can have mediocre RBs run wild. (Earnest Graham, Priest Holmes, etc)
Agree 100%
And let's get real... plenty of early busts on 1st round rbs too... it doesn't have to happen via the 2nd contract problem.
Fournette, Richardson, etc
how anyone can view the last 5 years and condone of drafting an RB in the first round is unbelievable.
We need OL, DL, Edge help. If one of those positions arent in the first round, Licht is off his medicine again
Build the trenches. Thats what all successful NFL franchises do. Don't F around drafting a QB, that would be so stupid to do.
It seems we are all in agreement that you need to fix the OL before worrying about the QB position.
