SEA OL completely got rebuilt last off-season. They drafted two rookie tackles last year and both were home run picks. Not to his credit but those rookies were a huge part of their run game success.
So, I'm curious to see how he handles re-tooling the OL. We literally do not know what type of game he is going to call here. Different personnel, and different QB situations he is walking into. If Trask is the guy then I expect to be a run heavy team and we beef up the OL in either FA/draft.
The problem with a ground and pound offense is that you need an offensive line that can open up holes for the running back. That is something the Bucs were unable to do last season. I hope that the offensive line is improved next season.Outside of Waldron it was very vanilla. Expect a ground and pound styled offense because that is what Bowles wants.
you also need a QB who is capable to throwing the ball when the D plan is to stuff the run.......Trask up to that task?
Brad Idzik, new Buccaneers WR coach, is 31 years old.

Kyle Trask led the Gators to the most prolific passing offense (387.6 ypg) in the FBS while ranking seventh in total offense (509.8 ypg) and eighth in scoring offense (39.8 ppg).
In 2020, quarterback Kyle Trask completed 301-of-437 attempts (68.9 pct.) for 4,283 yards, 43 touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 180.0 efficiency rating en route to Heisman Trophy finalist and second-team All-America honors. The senior signal caller led the entire FBS in touchdown passes and ranked second in completions and passing yards.
Yeah, I think based on his college experience that Trask will be up to the task.
I'll reserve judgement until we see what the offense looks like.
Pete Carroll was a defensive oriented head coach, and now Canales is coming here to work for another defensive oriented coach. On top of that we aren't going to have a top level QB. So I think we are going to see a run-oriented offense.
Precisely.
This offense will be designed to be RB oriented or closer to balanced.
Carroll-style offense would drive some of the fans here nuts
"SEATTLE, Wash. — Throughout his storied history as a head football coach, Pete Carroll has stuck to two core tenets: maximize the team’s defensive potential and establish the running game. Now, without a defined option for the starting quarterback position and the ‘Let Russ Cook’ movement in the rearview, Carroll has a clear pathway to rebuilding the Seattle Seahawks under his own accord.
The numbers back up Carroll’s beliefs — Seattle is second in total rushing yards (25,0002) and tied for second in yards per carry (4.5) since he became the team’s head coach in 2010. Beyond the efficiency, Carroll’s offense generally includes a high volume of carries, ranking third in total rush attempts with 5,550 handoffs during his tenure."

Why?
Did Carroll have a playbook that consisted of 7 plays like our last OC?
Canales has been around a few offensive coordinators. He's seen more than a few ways to build a running game, and he's coached some good QB play. I don't know why anyone is worried we might become a stone-age offense. If it's about maximizing the talent on your roster, we still look like more of a passing team, moving towards better balance.
I think he brings Drew Lock to Tampa , he and Trask battle it out .

We really don’t know what type offense Canales will run, but it’s pretty clear the football simpletons aren’t aware of Seattle’s offense last season - as they ranked 23rd in Rushing attempts and 15th in Passing attempts. That’s not “ground and pound”, by any stretch of the imagination.
Lets be clear. For the majority of Canales career he has been with Carroll where he prefers a balanced offense and not a pass first offense. But given that the Bucs do not have an established QB1 or R. Wilson in his prime this is clearly going to be a run first offense.
Waldron brought in newer concepts to Seattle so maybe some of that rubs off with Canales from this past season. But it is more likely that Canales will lean on the ground game.
So I am more inclined to believe that Canales will bring a run oriented offense compared to lets say Waldron offensive scheme. Only way that calculus changes is if the Bucs bring in a vet QB that can run what Geno did at a high level by being able to read pre snap and to show good footwork in the pocket.

Yes. Literally. I am a Carroll fan but at one point people referred to his offensive philosophy as RRP… that stand for RUN. Run AGAIN. Pass
Carroll’s run first philosophy actually comes from a CONSERVATIVE belief that you mess things up less when you run and that you “establish the run” to set up explosive plays… the same ARIANS philosophy the Bucs employed in fact, Carroll is closer to Bowles than Arians his teams are typically great defensive teams who run the shit out of it to NOT LOSE
if you look you’ll, even find Carroll saying things like an offense can’t function without the run because you need to own up space by draw8mg linebacker in. in fact, you will find a quote of Carroll embracing the comparison of his offense to the old Packers
again, I am a fan AND I don’t agree that our OC will necessary follow Carroll but if you’re not an idiot like Buggsy (calling out last year lol) and you look at Carrolls ENTIRE career with the Seahawks you will probably find that EVEN WITH WILSON they were way more likely to run than most teams on neutral downs
come on man…CANT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS lol
But given that the Bucs do not have an established QB1 or R. Wilson in his prime this is clearly going to be a run first offense.
You just described Geno Smith, prior to the 2022 season. And yet, Seattle ranked 23rd in Rushing attempts and 15th in Passing attempts.
We won’t see “ground and pound.” Even you’ve realized this, which is why you have transitioned to “more balanced” offense instead.

man you are an idiot
smith was Carrolls CONSERVATIVE choice (ie the veteran) AFTER they traded for Lock. Smith played well but if you just look you will see the passing stats are largely a reflection of their defense sucking. They were in a lot of shootouts because the D couldn’t stop anyone
good grief. The NUMBER ONE flaw for all you brain dead stat repeaters is you all switch cause-effect. They didn’t call a wide open offense in Seattle - Carroll would rather run than anything - they couldn’t stop people.
and by the way they were basically the Bucs, 8-9 limped in with a late losing streak and got CRUSHED
Carroll has been a HC for decades. He is SYNONYMOUS with tough defensive teams that play very conservative run oriented offense.
it a credit to him.
you’re a dope who bests his chest about football even though you know NOTHING other than out of context stats
Buggsy EVEN YOU should be able to comprehend the statistical value of OUTLIERS
I take that back.
lmao
