at the 1:11 mark Canales is talking about coming out in the 3rd quarter with a one score lead against the Texans:
"in my heart of hearts I'd love to just run it, run them right out of the stadium"
In the same press conference, Canales addresses the limited throws to Evans and Godwin by pointing out that the Texans defense keyed on them, dropped na extra defender so they countered with Otton, White etc (the underneath game)
2021 Pete Carroll, after losing to the Rams (not the last sentence)"
“We have to run the ball better,” Carroll said. “Not even better — we have to run it more. We have to dictate what’s going on with the people that we’re playing, and that’s one of the ways to do that. And I know the fans aren’t really jacked about hearing that, but Russ knows it, too. We need to be able to knock those guys into the scheme that we want to throw at.”
The Titans watched that film
Even casual Bucs fans know the Bucs have major weapons in the pass game, but that doesn’t matter to the folks running the Bucs because the head coach and offensive coordinator want to be a running team, come hell or high water.”
FIFY.
There had to be 2-3 drives against the Texans where canales started off the drives with 2 runs.
im sorry but sitting at 3rd and 7th isn’t really setting up the offense with success and one pass opportunity to convert
we are better off punting on first down to conserve time if that is going to be his borderline retarded philosophy on those drives
don’t get me wrong 37 points is enough to win any game so offense wasn’t the problem but he needs to stop that

you're suggesting he hired an OC who doesnt share his views?
Canales is a Carroll-disciple who just said he wanted to run and run more coming out of halftime against the Texans.

you bux fans got what you wanted -a change at OC, unfortunately you got one who last was an OC for a high school team about 15 yrs ago

haha. Have to love how we all (myself included) look at football, all pre-conceived ideas about what it right and wrong. A 37 point output .. but done the wrong way!!
Let me offer another way to look at this - using your "3rd and7" example. Maybe picture the Eagles from Sirianni's perspective.
How many MORE TDs would Evans have if that 1st down run was reliably 4 yards or 6 yards? if that was the case going into the Texans game, the Texans dont drop one extra defender back, they commit more to stop that kind of running . . .. and that leaves Evans and Godwin both running against one less defender and probably a safety cheating up
There are many ways to win. The Titans just watched film of the Bucs putting up 37 against a team that played cover two, focused on the receivers.
They may do the same, but then again . . .
I'm more concerned about what the Titans saw on film from the Bucs defense...
you're suggesting he hired an OC who doesnt share his views?
I'm suggesting that he came from a program that had one of the highest 1st down pass rates last year, and is now trending quickly in the opposite direction.

I see our resident LPN's troll game is still pathetic at best.
Poor M(little)ORGAN.
Seems like about 15 years ago more or less when Jameis Winston was a starting QB and Morgan was singing his praises.you bux fans got what you wanted -a change at OC, unfortunately you got one who last was an OC for a high school team about 15 yrs ago

"1st down pass rates . . . . last year?"
Talk about a specific stat?
He came from 14 YEARS of Pete Carroll, but the point was that it seems reasonable to expect a head coach to hire coaches who match how he wants to see the game played. In fact, this is going WAY back but I think in his debut as Jets HC Bowles went the opposite (Gailey - very experienced passing oriented OC) and it didn't go very well.
I'm more concerned about what the Titans saw on film from the Bucs defense...
for sure.
I was just wondering if we get a repeat from them of the Texans, the sit back defense, or do they push forward to stop or run and dumb off stuff. That's the dilemma that Canales is trying to create, as opposed to react to. He's trying to force the defense to play a certain way and that would definitely help free up Evans and Godwin

Canales:
"“So that’s where I’ve got to get better learning and taking those lessons that, OK, we’re taking a lead here and they’ve been drawing up all these things that worked in the first half. Take the next step and try to protect those things instead of going right back to them, because in my heart of hearts I’d love to just run it and run them out of the stadium and go away with a win right there. So, that’s where I can get better.”
I know, I know . . . "coach speak"
1st down pass rates . . . . last year?"
Talk about a specific stat?
Umm…yeah.
Not sure this needs explaining, does it?
