LAST YEAR the Bucs "quit on the run game." They decided to "fold it up, give up and start throwing the ball around the yard" and it did not go well with the GOAT at QB

There is still a lot of the season left but I have seen enough to say that PR staff is off their rocker by claiming the Bucs need to draft a WR. Bowles has been clear he wants to convert the team to a more balanced or run oriented offense and Canales has play called this way so far this season. Pass attempts are there but Mayfield can't connect downfield so really the issue is the Bucs need further investment on the OL, RB and another TE to pair with Otton.

Who knows how the Packers game will play pout. They have been weak against the run. BUT they shpould be selling out to stop the run, which should mean some explosives IF Mayfield can connect lol

Well with the Packers game Mayfield was connecting with nearly everything. But Canales play calling has been very varied and not vanilla at all down the stretch. I am impressed with Canales doing more with less compared to Bowles that has far more resources poured into the other side of the ball.

Its one of the most puzzling things. Uf you look at the game threads you have everyone all over Mayfield early (just like there are multiple posts on the boards assailing Mayfield) but all season the defense has struggled to get off the field. Some of that has been masked by fortunate turnovers or good stout red zone D, but NOT being able to get off the field switches field position, takes up time . .that happened a bunch today but no one seems to mind EVEN AS THEY CITICIZE BOLWES FOR THINGS LIKE TIME OUTS OR BLAME HIM FOR THE RUNNING BIAS (LOL)

Converting two or three more plays, you’re going to get six or eight more runs anyway. All of that ties together unfortunately. You could just stand there and keep running it to get your numbers up and you’re not playing winning football. You’re just doing it for the wrong reason."
Canales was the perfect hire for a team that was previously roughly 65/35 pass to run. It's just taken a while to convert that kind of team to one that we see today. No b etter example of that then the explosive play highlighted by PR, which was built on a film and in-game tendency to run on 1st down

So, when they came out in pistol on first down on the following play Green Bay was primed and ready to stop the run. Canales took full advantage with a play-action rollout with Mayfield finding Chris Godwin wide open for an explosive play."
