Josh McCown - QB - BearsNFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Bears have "strong interest" in re-signing free agent Josh McCown, and that the Jets and Bucs are also interested.Rapsheet lumps the Bucs in with the Bears' "strong interest." Chicago's interest should go without saying after McCown flourished in Marc Trestman's system as Jay Cutler's backup last season, but the Bucs and Jets should be careful not to overpay. McCown is a 35-year-old (in July) journeyman who was managed and manipulated to success by an offensive guru. New York and Tampa Bay likely don't have the coaching-staff horses to keep McCown's resurgence going.Related: Jets, BuccaneersSource: Ian Rapoport on Twitter Feb 24 - 1:25 PM

With an injury being the exception - I'd guess he'd probably has the best shot to start with the Bucs Wonder what he's looking for...  He's useless to Chicago unless Cutler is hurt.  Jets have Smith and butt fumble...Hmmm...

This actually makes a lot of sense.  No sense some drafting some Nancy unproven QB.  Bring in a proven FA and let him compete with Glennon for the starting job.  Focus all of our draft efforts on areas of need (OL,WR,DE).  This could be great news!

I think Jets make a strong push for Vick.

This guy is the best free agent QB available. It would be huge if we could sign him. Matt Cassell is the only other free agent QB worth a look IMO.

Playing him instead of Tony Romo in my fantasy playoff game gave me the edge to (luckily) win $800. I will forever have a soft spot for Josh McCown. Regardless, he was a career journeyman until he got forced into starting QB role against some very bad pass defenses, with 3 very good pass catchers, (Forte, Marshall, Jeffrey). Do I think he is better than Glennon? Yes. Do I think he should be starting QB for our franchise? No.

Lets just bring in both McCowns. We'll have a formation where we have two quarterbacks, we'll call it the double dragon. They won't know which McCown is throwing... nor will they care.

There is a nice contingent of Schaub supporters here that will disagree with that post. As for me, fukk Schaub!!

He is a veteran, so he qualifies at age 35. There no doubt are others we're interested in too, as Orlovsky ain't likely comin' back.

Kyle Orton would be a better option if he doesn't return to Dallas...

I'm sure Tedford would like to pick apart some of the Chicago playbook when Lovie makes his "homecoming" this season.  McCown is meh. Glennon is meh, but with much more upside. Getting a quality QB would be the plan most ideal.

This isn't much of an improvement, and it forces us to find another qb sooner than later because of his age.I don't like glennon, but I'd rather have a horse I can hitch my wagon to for years to come, than a car at 250 miles. It's not too damaging to move up a couple of spots in draft, and take one of the top thee. All of which have arguably similar amounts of talents, but can be aeound for a long long time. And hopefully, it's the last time have to pick early in draft. Presumably, with lovie as coach, we should at least play like an average team.I say get a qb in draft for the long haul.
