#Left Tackle:if Veldheer or Monroe hit free agency it's a no brainer, both are up-and-coming young pass protectors, top 10 LT with pro bowl potential, worth $8-9M per year... there is no cap loss if you trade/cut Penn ($16M in cap space for 2014 & 2015).moving Penn at G isn't a good idee, not a great run blocker... Penn's strength was in pass protection on the outside but he's aging, imo he's still a (below average) LT not an interior OL and for $8M per year i want all-pro G production...pass on Albert or Gross, offer no long-term value... Oher is overrated, great swing tackle and at best below average starting material... Collins had a good year, could be a good stopgap...Saffold is my first option if you cant sign Veldheer/Monroe, you may sign him on a one-year prove it deal at LT or more year with the possibility to move him at guard(good production with the Rams last season)... really like Saffold if you draft Greg Robinson, Robinson is a raw pass protector and a dominant run blocker, you can start using Saffold as a LT and Robinson at OG then move Robinson at LT in a year or two and Saffold at G or RT... imo Saffold is worth $6-7M per year, Saffold/Robinson could be the best FA/draft combo to end the Joseph/Penn era!if you dont sign a LT and Matthews or Robinson is here at #7, unless Smith/Licht think there is a future top ten NFL QB or 15 sacks per year DE, it's a no brainer!Taylor Lewan is another option if you trade down in the 1st round... don't like Richardson, Kouandjio or Moses, better fit on the right side!if you cant sign/draft one of those guys, you should leave one more year with Penn only if he take a paycut ($2M minimum!) or give a shot to Dotson on the left side...#Left Guard:with Nicks health issue, you need good depth with long-term starting potential, you have to draft a guard... wish Zack Martin didn't show 1st round value but after senior bowl and combine it's a pipe dream at #38... Gabe Jackson, Su’a Filo and Brandon Thomas are my favorite prospect but not for a top 50 pick, wish we have our 3rd round to take Thomas... OTs Jack Mewhort, Joel Bitonio, Charles Leno, Cameron Fleming or Michael Schofield are worth a 4th round pick and a move at G... Anthony Steen, Cyril Richardson, John Urschel and Dakota Dozier are worth our 5th round pick... Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Conor Boffeli, Brandon Linder, Jon Halapio and Spencer Long could be worth a late draft pick...two udfa's the bucs should take for training camp competition: UCF Justin and Jordan McCray!in free agency, i'm not sure if he's a RFA or UFA but really like Shelley Smith(Rams), was good against the bucs last season...#Center:Mack is the other FA target who could be worth a big contract, i don't like to see a team spend big money on the center position but Mack makes too much sense(Tedford/Warhop), hope he doesn't cost more than $7.5-8M per year... Zuttah is a better OC than OG... still a better guard than Joseph!Pass on the other FAs, i'm not sure there is really an upgrade over Zuttah, he's slightly overpaid but not a liability, worth another year or you could try to work a new deal with some guaranteed money and lower cap value.some good prospect in this draft but no pro bowl potential, alot of guys with starting potential (Swanson, Richburg, Larson, Martin and Stork), 2-3 should be 3rd day pick. Bodine & Ikard later (maybe Linsley as an udfa), good backup potential with some upside for more... 2015 draft could be better with Grasu, Phillips, Bendel, Dismukes, Finney, Andrews... may sign a vet backup for a year (minimum salary), Mike Gibson(former Cal), Chris Spencer or Mike Pollak... Matt Tennant is one street free agent i would like for training camp competition ala Maneri/Moore (wish Dominik would have claimed T.J.Johnson from the Bengals practice squad to replace Larsen)#Right Guard:Joseph is gone unless he take a huge paycut and still need competition... need a new starter unless you sign Mack and move Zuttah at guard or try the Greg Robinson/Rodger Saffold combo...FA sucks if you want pro bowl potential, Asamoah is good but should be expensive and is just a borderline top ten guard... Geoff Schwartz could be expensive for only a year of production... would like Saffold more than anyone but he want a shot at LT.plenty of FA worth a one-year prove it deal, Willie Colon, Kevin Boothe, Travelle Wharton, Chad Rinehart, Mike McGlynn and some cap casualties (Chris Chester, Harvey Dahl, Uche Nwaneri or Chris Snee, if healthy)... hope we stay away from any Phins.Shawn Lauvao(Warhop) will be my top target if you look for competition, long-term potential and good $ value!#Right Tackle:Dotson was one of the top RT last year... hope he stay on the right side.if we cant sign/draft a good LT and Penn doesn't want to take a paycut, you should sign or draft a RT and move Dotson at LT... Richardson or Kouandjio could be here at #38, not a big fan of Henderson... better work a trade down and have a 3rd round back to take Morgan Moses, Ja'Wuan James or maybe Jack Mewhort (one sleep may to our 4th round pick?). in free agency, Austin Howard is the only one worth a long-term deal but should be too expensive, Oher is more draft reputation than production but still below average starting material (Joseph 2.0)...David Stewart(healthy) and Eric Winston could be good stopgap for a year.with Carimi gone you need to find a swing tackle... James Hurst (injury could make him drope more than you think), Matt Patchan and Matt Hall late in the draft or an udfa Brent Qvale, Jeremiah Sirles, Cornelius Lucas or Kevin Graf to compete with a cheap FA (Tyson Clabo, Jason Fox, Thomas Welch or Charles Brown)... Bruce Campbell is another street free agent you could sign now for training camp competition(see Matt Tennant).no depth, starting unit is overpaid and offer no long-term fondation, people who think OL isn't a priority, as much as QB and DE, are in denial... Licht need to draft/sign/resign 5-6 guys for next season.

I don't know if there is going to be a wholesale change in our Oline this offseason - but the way Smith/Licht have been talking they are  bringing in a bunch more guys and are setting up Penn and Joseph to take some pay cuts.I don't pretend to have the answer - but holy schmokes - when we pay the most in the league (I think) for an oline, they better be top 5 right?/preaching to the choir.

I like it...I was pretty high on Jackson... but wanted him in the fourth.  Looks like that ain't happening. We could get Xavier Su'a-Filo 6-4 307 in the fourth... I like him - he's thick and aggressive - would be a good guard.AND add some of these late rounders OT - Luke Lucas Kansas State 6083 316 (almost 38 inch arms... Lol)Marcus Martin Southern California 6033 320  OG project.

especially if Nicks can play. Healthy Nicks and Robinson would be a complete difference maker compared to last season.

Why has everyone given up on Joseph? Is it possible he needed last season to come back from the knee surgery. Is it a salary thing?

Have you watched him play over the YEARS?He is overpaid and incredibly overrated.  Just an awful guard.

He made the Pro Bowl in 2011, then got hurt during the preseason in the 2012. He played last season coming off knee surgery. Yes, I have watched him play. This is why I was asking the question. He was a Pro Bowl player in 2011, so he must have done something right.

The problem with Lewan is that his workout looks a lot better than the film. I need to watch more. I started to watch him and his pass blocking was so atrocious I turned him off and removed him altogether from my list.If we are drafting Lewan better not cut Penn just yet. We still are going to need someone to play LT this year.
