if they work out a long term deal. If Winston's camp is asking Goff like numbers then it is time to move onto plan B. Plan B is to keep the defense intact while adding to the defense via free agency and the draft. Shore up the OL trenches via FA and then draft more trenches and RB/WR talent.

Remember the Bucs gave D. Smith a deal to avoid the franchise tag which I think was a result of poor planning. Now, the Bucs are faced with a similar situation. But in this situation you can not pay a QB over $30 mil per year given how Winston has been inconsistent. Winston's dollar value is between Jimmy G and Cousins.

Licht should NOT make the mistake of giving Winston Goff like money. Mahomes and Watson will be paid, but those guys have been more consistent than Winston OR Goff.

The Rams cap is now crippled because of the deal they gave Goff which I think was a knee jerk reaction. That reaction was because of the fear that his price tag may go up so they did an early deal. But the truth is that the pre-emptive gambled did not pay off for the Rams.

I am not against the Bucs giving Winston the franchise tag or a team friendly deal. But if Licht blunders this by giving Winston $30 mil or more then the clock is ticking for the eventual firing of Licht as Bucs GM.
