Bucs Should Target Mettenberger and Trade GlennonBy John MiceliMarch 24, 2014 Mett_Zps1315B275.JpgJohn Reed-USA TODAY SportsThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers were expected to make a change at Quarterback since Lovie Smith took over the team this season. This change has arrived in the form of Josh McCown. McCown showed us a lot last season, and he showed us a real ability to be a teams starting quarterback. I think if McCown’s age was not a factor, it would of been smart for them to continue with McCown as he showed us an excellent ability to pass the football in the Marc Trestman offense. Now, I think one big factor in McCown’s success was his ability to throw to the size of the Bears wide receivers, with Martellus Bennett, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey making up the primary receivers for Chicago. This means the main targets for Chicago all had excellent size, and it have McCown the ability to throw the ball up, and allow these talented receivers to make plays.I think McCown will miss that ability this season as he begins to play with some smaller wide receiver as Tampa Bay’s new Quarterback. I think McCown will have good a good season there because I trust in McCown’s arm strength. However, I do not trust at all in Mike Glennon’s arm strength. Lovie Smith likes his Quarterbacks to have excellent arm strength and be able to make nice throws, quickly. With Mike Glennon, still being in his youth, devoid of this ability, keeping his success last year in consideration, he could still draw a solid amount of interest from teams looking for a backup quarterback to work on, and train. Now, why would the Bucs trade away their Quarterback of the future, their project Quarterback for draft picks, or the little amount of value they would get back?Because the Bucs should add a project Quarterback, with arm strength, and still with ability to do a lot of other thing very well. They want arm strength, but don’t want to settle for a horrible Quarterback just because of his arm strength. So, I conclude that the Bucs should target a guy who fits this role, that being Zach Mettenberger out of LSU.Mettenberger was a talented college Quarterback and I think he has a good chance of making something out of himself at the next level. With a few years to play behind someone, and learn, he could turn out to be a very solid quarterback. He’s shown that he has the ability, he just needs to project the ability on the field, and I think Lovie Smith and the Buccaneers should give Mettenberger a chance to succeed. http://network.yardbarker.com/nfl/article_external/the_bucs_should_target_mettenberger_and_trade_glennon/16087480?linksrc ="story_team_tampa_bay_buccaneers_auto_module_head_16087480"
