When there was only one other player that anybody can look back nine years ago and say he should have been the pick, it kinda does.
Again tho it's groupthink... Players get projected in a range then the pick becomes justified which is lazy.
There's 6 or 7 great picks that follow Hargraves within 30 selections. Would some of them have been a 20/20 hindsight reach? Sure of course... But still.
Tunsil, Kelly, Decker (all good line prospects)
Clark, Jones, Howard.
There's other JAG players that were better... In fact I'd argue he was one of the worst players in the first 3 rounds.
not because Hargreaves wasn’t a worthy selection.
wth?
he was the classic need based reach
And he was the classic "let's draft Florida players" approach which for some reason the Bucs and Jags became obsessed with for a stretch.
Like literally they're drafted to get butts in the seats or something.
We're talking draft philosophy
No, we’re not. We’re talking about your speculation on moving an OT prospect to OG, if he’s even available. Which he probably won’t be because some team will more than likely draft him as an OT before the Bucs pick.
To answer your hypothetical question, you’ll never regret drafting an All-pro - regardless of position. Now, I’ll hold my breath until Banks becomes an All-Pro OG.
Nobody has talked about Banks playing inside
Exactly.
Very strong overall is not debatable. It was a strong draft that was very poorly pre-ranked.
lolz, every year there are good players drafted after R1. But not every year is there a first round as shitty as 2016. It wasn’t a good draft.
Forget about Hargreaves, Licht had pick 39, which was the equivalent of shitting on the draft card, and then traded up a kicker at 59 who couldn't even make an extra point, which was the equivalent of wiping his ass with the draft card.
No argument here. Licht deserves all the criticism you want for that.
Would some of them have been a 20/20 hindsight reach? Sure of course... But still.
That’s my point. It’s pretty easy to pick players nine years later. But there was nobody clamoring for Ryan Kelly (or any of those other players you listed ) when the Bucs were on the clock. It was pretty much Tunsil v Hargreaves.
not because Hargreaves wasn’t a worthy selection.

Chopping my sentences is such a bitch move. We are talking draft philosophy and using draft history as examples. History shows the Bucs should not draft for a specific need, rather draft the best player that is a WR, TE, OL, Edge, LB, DB, all based on the current roster.
Bucs are probably the only team in the league that is absolutely set at both tackles but have a hole at guard. This why the Bucs are the only team in the league that would draft Banks to play guard. You think you're proving a point but you're just being a smug dumbass. If Tristan Wirfs had a younger brother that was exactly like him and he was available at 19 where would the Bucs play him in 2025? LG. Where would the rest of the league play him? OT.
Every year there are not multiple HOFers plus a franchise QB picked after round 1. Using PFR's best 32 players from the class, the 2016 draft has an average wAV of 62. 2015 has 55 and 2017 has 57. Good draft class, shitty draft boards.
Versatility is always nice.
among both lines especially.
Im down for any tweeners early on that can help protect the passer or rush the passer.
whether that be guard LB DE whatever it may be.
same with secondary. Nickel. Safety. Corner. if you can help us win football games however or wherever that may be sign me up.

who was our DC?
from your own link
”His lack of size shows up. He isn't a physical run defender. He prefers to catch and drag or dive low on ball carriers. Overall, Hargreaves will have some issues outside because of his lack of size but he could be an elite nickel cornerback at the next level.”

Still say it's groupthink. He's not athletic or big or even *that* productive in college.
Nothing warrants being that high of a prospect even when you read his draft card.
4.5 40, and not overly quick given his size. He's a slot corner with low top end speed.
He also struggled in big games...
Reading his stuff reminds me how much I hated the pick at the time... I also wanted Tunsil but generally I've always leaned toward building the trenches.
CBs flop too often in the top 20.

Biggs is a Gator homer who thought Trask was the second coming so buckets of salt needed.
If you’re using the 10th or 11th pick to take the THIRD player at a non-QB position it’s usually going to be a mistake.
not sure how anyone could defend that pick lol
The Defense is the whole round sucked but that's not the GMs job. Licht is supposed to find great players.
Anyone can auto draft the consensus highest rated player at the time with zero critical thinking.
If there wasn't groupthink for that year, we'd have seen better players taken in the first.
The draft is a crapshoot is just excuses. "My job is hard so I didn't do it well".
Just gotta own the mistake
Licht is supposed to find great players
If the discussion was about a non-Gator, Biggs would be saying the same thing.
On the Red Board you alway read "draft BPA." Taking the super short, 3rd CB of the board with your 11th pick BECAUSE YOU REALLY NEED A CB is exactly the type of move most posters would scram about . .
but its a Gator we are talking about so . . .
Licht could have just as easily traded back, picked up Tunsil or several other players
(Theres also a FL product bias at play, just like with Winston . . . I think Gator fans said that was no excuse lol)
Chopping my sentences is such a bitch move.
This is something whiny bitches say.

Again, no we aren't. We are discussing your idea to draft an OT prospect, who most are projecting at OT, and move him to OG.

You're making up fantasy-land scenarios to justify your "idea" about Banks dropping and moving him to OG, which is about the only way you can justify it. As I've already said, if there is an All-Pro (or Hall of Fame, as you're speculating) player available, you'll never regret drafting him. I'm not sure how much clearly I can say that.
Every year there are not multiple HOFers plus a franchise QB picked after round 1. Using PFR's best 32 players from the class, the 2016 draft has an average wAV of 62. 2015 has 55 and 2017 has 57. Good draft class, shitty draft boards.
2016's wAV is inflated by a fifth round WR and 4th round QB in 90's in the top 3. If you're making the argument that prospect Tyreek Hill and prospect Dak Prescott should have been first round picks, I'm not sure what else to say. I have no doubt you had both of them as top 5 prospects on your draft board, Mr. Red Board GM.
Who were you banging the drum to draft in R1 after the trade-back? Be honest.
